Chautauqua Portage Trail
In the early days of Chautauqua, there was a trail, used by the indians, that went from Barcelona by Lake Erie, to Chautauqua Lake near what was to become Mayville.
In or about 1971 the Boy Scout Council in Chautauqua County printed a booklet telling about The Trail, with maps and much history of Chautauqua County. It was researched by Herbert F. Hern, with art work by Judith Lewis.
