United States Strike Command

STRICOM was formed at MacDill Air Force Base in 1961. It was a joint task force made up of all branches of the armed forces. The Communications Support Element, CSE stationed at MacDill, was made up of Air Force and Army communications personal. It was their job to be among the very first to go to a trouble spot and set up communications for the Headquarters Personnel and Troops. They had 2 bags packed at all times, one for very cold climates, and one for very warm. It was said they could be anywhere in the world within a short period of time.
