After spending several years in the South she came to Pittsburg. Her husband, who died years ago, fought in the Civil War. She belonged to the Christian Church and is survived by one son, Robert Rowe, in Jamestown, N.Y. |

Rowe, Joseph Robert ----------------- Joseph Robert Rowe, 70, of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away suddenly on May 25, 2012. He was the son of Sadie (Santa Maria LoPresto) Rowe, Joseph Chimera and Jack Scott Rowe. Joe graduated from Jamestown High School in 1959, where he was a member of the Braw Caddie Clan. He played the drums professionally from the age of 16, and befriended jazz musicians such as Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich. After graduating from Tri-State University in Indiana, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was an enthusiastic member of sales teams at Herbert Shoes, Carnahan's, McFadden Ford, and Lake County Dodge. He and his family were grateful for the support that they received from this community when he recovered from a near fatal illness in 1998. He is survived by his son, Joel Robert-Scott Rowe of Manhattan, N.Y.; his former wife, Karen (Brown) Rowe; several cousins; and many loving friends. A memorial service for Joe will be held at the 511 East Second St., AA Club, where Joe was supported in his sobriety for 42 years and supported many others in theirs, at 4 p.m. on June 9, 2012. All are welcome and any donations will fund an Alateen or AA scholarship. |

ROWE DIES AT JAMESTOWN -------- Formerly Resident of Fredonia Where Burial Will Be on Wednesday -------- Word has been received here of the death of Robert N. Rowe, formerly of Fredonia, while eating in a restaurant Saturday Evening. Death was believed to have been result of a stroke of apoplexy. Mr. Rowe was 61 years of age and had resided in Jamestown most of his life working for years in Harris Brothers bakery and more recently in the New System bakery. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Delia Albro at Gerry and nine grandchildren besides a number of cousins. His wife who died several years ago was before her marriage Miss Jennie Thompson of Fredonia. The funeral will be held in Jamestown Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, burial following in Fredonia. |

From Salamanca Republican-Press Monday, May 24, 1926 Nathan L. Rowe is dead -------- Merchant and former Postmaster at South Dayton South Dayton, May 23. -- Nathan L. Rowe one of the pioneer citizens of South Dayton, died at his home Sunday at 12:15 a.m. at the age of 83 years. He came to this village in the spring of 1875, purchased the first lot and erected the first building where he conducted a grocery and feed store. This store was successfully managed until destroyed by fire but was soon rebuilt. On August 19, 1876 he was married to Belle E. Swift who survives him. He was appointed postmaster of the village in 1897 and served in this capacity 17 years until he retired from active business. Beside the wife he leaves one sister, Mrs. Corydon J. Phillips of Terrace Place, Jamestown, and one brother, Fitch of Franklin, Pa., a son Frank, and two grandchildren of South Dayton, six nephews, and four nieces. The funeral will be held from the residence Wednesday at 2 p.m. with burial at Cherry Creek. Herbert B. Rowe From Thur. 10 Oct, 1901 Pittsburg Press. Jennie L. Rowe Jamestown Evening Journal, Tuesday, May 10, 1898 Jennie L. Rowe died at her home, 122 Fulton street, Monday at 3 p. m. Her age was 27 years, five months, and one day at the time of her death. She leaves besides her husband, Robert N. Rowe, one daughter, Delia May, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Thompson and one sister, Grace May Thompson of Fredonia, and one brother, Edwin A. Thompson of Pigeon, Pa. The remains will be taken to Fredonia this afternoon by way of the D. A. V. & P. railway. The funeral services will be held in Fredonia Wednesday afternoon. |

The Derrick, Tuesday, Jul 3 1962: Mrs. Mary Duffee, 88, of Sandy Lake, a former resident of Franklin and of Polk, died at 1 pm Sunday in the Bashline Osteopathic Hospital in Grove City following a lingering illness. She was born April 24, 1874 in Franklin, daughter of Fitch and Emma Baxter Rowe. She was the widow of Burton E. Duffee who died in 1943. She lived in Sandy Lake for the past 21 years and worked in the dietary department of Polk State School for 23 years, retiring in 1943. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Franklin. Surviving are a son, Frederick E. Duffee, of Auburn, CA, and a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Eldora) Vosler of Sandy Lake, with whom she made her home. Services will be in Sandy Lake. Interment will be in the Franklin Cemetary. |

Mrs. Frank Nathan Rowe From The Randolph Register, 26 September, 1930 South Dayton -- Mrs. Frank N. Rowe died at her home in this village at 12:15 Saturday following a long period of failing health. Mrs. Helen Rowe was born in Hanover on October 17, 1879 and was nearly 51 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Dye. Her girlhood days were spent on a farm near Cherry Creek. About 26 years ago she was married to Frank N. Rowe and came to this village where she has since made her home. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Cherry Creek, of the Methodist Episcopal Church, the church school, The Ladies Aid Society, and The women's Foreign Missionary Society and in each of these organizations was an active member so long as health permitted. Mrs Rowe had many friends in this village and in the surrounding communities. She is survived by her husband F. N. Rowe; two sons, Philip of Silver Creek and Norton, at home; two grandchildren, Junior and Sally Ann Rowe of Silver creek; one sister Mrs. G. D. Batterson of Cassadaga; Four brothers; Fred Dye of Conewango, Tim Dye of South Dayton, Ace Dye of Falconer, Merle Dye of Cherry Creek; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The funeral was held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, burial at Cherry Creek. |
