An area resident since 1961, she was born April 19, 1930, in
Buffalo, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Fries Blount. She was a graduate of Mt. St. Josephs High School, and served as vice president and secretary of Yaw Oil Co. from 1974 until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, and had earned a life membership to the Bush School PTA.
Carol loved time with her grandchildren and enjoyed gardening.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter-in-law, Tracy Bogdan, and sons-in-law Steven Bowman and Jon Albro.
Surviving are her husband, Theodore F. Bogdan, whom she married April 8, 1961; two daughters: Janet Bowman of Jamestown, and Elizabeth ''Betsy'' Albro of Philadelphia; two sons: Theodore J. and David Bogdan, both of Jamestown; eight grandchildren: Brittany, Jacob and Alissa Bowman, and William and Rebecca Bogdan, all of Jamestown, and Margaret, Jonathan and Benjamin Albro, all of Philadelphia; and two brothers: Thomas and Robert Blount of Buffalo.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Blount.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor, will be celebrant.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 1:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to Ss. Brown, Jack December 10, 2004 He was born Aug. 24, 1916, in Jamestown, the son of Stowell and Hulda Johnson Brown. He attended Jamestown schools and was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Merchant Marines. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by Jamestown Flooring for more than 40 years. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 66 and a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He was an avid outdoorsman most of his life who was an experienced trapper. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Bjork of Lockport; two sons: Dennis Brown of Charlotte, N.C., and Rob Brown of Wells, Maine; seven grandchildren: Adrienne Closius, Jennifer Houston and Ryan Brown, all of North Carolina, Aaron Bjork of Ohio, Lindsay Coulombe of Lockport, Andrew Brown of Maine and Timothy Brown, serving with the U.S. Army in Germany; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Margaret Lutz, whom he married March 29, 1949, in New York City and who died Aug. 5, 1998; an infant son, David Brown; four brothers: Harry, Merle ''Bing,'' Herbert and Carl Brown; and two sisters: Mary Ann Addison and Helen Jane Shaw. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Alison L. Leitzel, pastor, will officiate. Albro Burns, 77, formerly of Jamestown and Falconer, passed away at 3:00 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 1, 2011) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation. She was born May 19, 1933, in Jamestown, the daughter of Walter and Edith Seagren Albro. A 1951 graduate of Jamestown High School, she also attended classes at Jamestown Community College. She was a member of the Kiantone Congregational Church and was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi. Mrs. Burns had been employed as a speech pathology aide, in the dental office of Dr. Anthony Dispenza, D.D.S., and as a U.S. Census worker. She had also been employed at the Pennysaver, Quality Markets and with Wilcare as a home health care aide. She enjoyed knitting and crochet, crafts, cooking and baking, writing poetry, reading, painting, teaching Sunday school and talking on the telephone. Mrs. Burns is survived by a son, Scott D. (Michelle) Burns of Jamestown; a daughter, Aimee L. (Danny) Town of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and by two grandchildren: Dylan James Town of Ft. Lauderdale and Heather A. Burns of Jamestown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon H. Burns, whom she married Oct. 21, 1954, and who died Dec. 6, 2003; and by a brother, Ray Albro. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, in the Kiantone Congregational Church. The Rev. Mel McGinnis will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Busti Cemetery. Burns, 77, of 304 Elmwood Ave,. died at 1;33 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 6, 2003) in WCA Hospital. He was born Nov. 19, 1925 in Jamestown, the son of Harold and Ruby Carlson Burns. He was a graduate of Jamestown High School, and a veteran of World war II, serving in the U. S. Army Corps in the Philippines, Okinawa and China. In early years, he had been employed by Bert Loftgren's Red & White Store. In later years he was employed by Burns Case Goods, and retired from Union National Furniture Co. after 40 years of service as shipping manager. He enjoyed carpentry and loved dogs. He is survived by his wife, the former Elsie Albro; a son, Scott Burns of Jamestown; a daughter, Aimee Town of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; a grandson, Dylan James Town of Ft. Lauderdale; and a sister, Dorothy Peterson of Jamestown. He was predeeded in death by his stepmother, Lilly Burns. A memorial service will be held at 1 p>m.
