Galati, Catherine Basile
Catherine Basile Galati, 97, of Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled
Nursing, formerly of 28 Arnold St., Jamestown, died at 7:20 p.m.
Friday (Jan. 13, 2012) in the nursing facility.
She was born in Jamestown on Jan. 26, 1914, the daughter
of Anthony and Sarah Canfora Basile.
Catherine was employed as a bookkeeper at the former Kresge's
and W.T. Grant Co. for several years, retiring in 1974. She was
a communicant of St. James Catholic Church.
Catherine is survived by a brother, Carl Basile, Voorhees, N.J., two sisters,
Josephine (Ross) Parasiliti and Mary Basile, Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Galati whom she married on June 29,
1936 in Erie, Pa. and who died on Dec. 5, 1986 and by a sister Clara Enserro.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Hubert Funeral Home And
Cremation Services. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor of St. James Catholic Church,
will officiate.
Entombment will be in Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum.
Friends will be received for two hours prior to the funeral service.

Galbraith, James A.
October 16, 2011, RANDOLPH - James A. Galbraith, 83, of Bowen Road, Randolph, passed
away Friday, October 14, 2011, at the Lutheran Home and Rehab Center in Jamestown.
He was born November 1, 1927, in the town of Leon, N.Y., the son of the late Austin
and Olga Heilman Galbraith. He attended Randolph Central School and was a veteran
of World War II, serving in the United States Navy from December 28, 1943, to
April 1, 1946, receiving the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal,
Asiatic Pacific Service Metal and the Philippine Liberation Medal.
Mr. Galbraith was a career employee of the United States Postal Service in Randolph,
retiring in 1992 after 30 years of service.
He was a life member of the Randolph Volunteer Fire Company, member of the Randolph
American Legion Post 181 and Randolph Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 6533. He also
enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his "little angel" Liliana,
He also enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and riding motor cycles and snowmobiles.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Catherine A. Brown, whom he married on June 26,
1948, in Jamestown; a daughter, Kathryn L. Smith and her husband Stephen of Jamestown;
a son, L. James Galbraith and his wife Anne of Spokane, Wash., a sister Alice
Booth and her late husband Melvin of Conewango Valley; four grandchildren:
Lee Galbraith, Jason Galbraith, Christopher Smith, Danielle Smith-Pritchard;
and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Benjamin and Carl Galbraith.
The family will be present to receive friends on Monday October 17, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Gane, Kevin
Kevin Gane, a Pasco County resident for 22 years, died Nov. 28, 2011, at his
home, surrounded by family. He was 59.
Born in Jamestown, N.Y., on Sept. 2, 1952, to Clarence and Winifred Jean
Scott Gane.
He was raised on a dairy farm in Sinclairville with his three siblings. A veteran
of the Vietnam war, he served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972. He worked as an
electrician for 30 years, retiring in 2007.
His first wife, Laura, passed away due to illness in 1996. Kevin was a dedicated
father to his two children. Even becoming "Team Mom" for his daughters cheerleading
squad from 1998 to 1999. It was here that he met his wife Tracy, they married in 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy; his children: Kelly Gane and David Gane, Tracy's
children: Harrison Nix, Tyson Nix, and Maryann Nix, grandaughter, Madison, all of New
Port Richey; siblings: Jerry Gane of New Port Richey, and Darla (Don) Haddock of Fort
Myers; a cousin, Brad Gane of Sinclairville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Mae Knittle Gane; his brother,
Dennis "Denny" Gane; and both parents.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to The National Cremation Society. Visitation
will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. Services to immediately follow.

Karen Gardner, 68, of Jasper, Ga., formerly of South New Berlin, N.Y., passed away
at her residence Wednesday, May 23, 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Gardner, South New Berlin, N.Y.; two
daughters and sons-in-law: Lynette and Chris Purves, Cumming, Ga., and Alicia
and Wade Miles, Canton, Ga.; a step-brother and wife, Jeffrey and Amy Gardner,
Oneonta, N.Y.; five grandchildren: Caitlin Miles, Emily Purves, Amethyst, Tiffany
and Brandon Gardner.
A memorial service will be at her farm in Jasper, Ga., Sunday, May 27, surrounded
by the plants and flowers she cherished throughout her lifetime.

Geist, Marjorie Helen
CHERRY CREEK - Marjorie Helen Geist, 92, a retired school clerk for Buffalo
Public Schools, where she worked for 14 years, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011,
at TLC Lake Shore Hospital in Irving, N.Y.
She was born April 30, 1919, in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of the late
Frank R. and Charlotte M. (Klocke) Schumacher.
She is survived by two daughters, Melanie (Larry) Zollinger and Marily
(Robert) Giannini both of South Dayton, N.Y.; her grandson, Ehrich R.
Zollinger of South Dayton; her step-grandchildren: Colette Valum of Custer,
Wash; Erika Zollinger Adams of South Dayton, N.Y.; Jason Zollinger of South
Dayton; Debbie Grout of Boynton Beach, Fla.; Brian Giannini of New Jersey
and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ehrich H. Geist,
whom she married on Sept. 18, 1948, and who died on Jan. 26, 1965; her daughter,
Marjorie R. Dybka, who died on Sept. 22, 2009; her brother, Robert Schumacher
and her two sisters, Ruth Schumacher, and Rosemary Brown.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Hills
Funeral Chapel, 478 Balcom Corners and Route 83, South Dayton, N.Y. The Pastor
Bethany D. Ruane of South Dayton United Methodist Church will be officiating.
Burial will be in the Ridge Lawn Cemetery in Cheektowaga, N.Y.
Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Tues-day from 2 to 4 and

Gilbert, Ernest Penn Jr.
RANDOLPH - Ernest Penn Gilbert Jr., 79, of the Randolph Manor, Randolph, passed away
Monday (Jan. 2, 2012) at home.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a retired Civilian Engineer with the United
States Air Force.
He is survived by his daughter Holly Evans-Brown and her husband Dr. Timothy C. Brown
of Randolph.

Gilebarto, David P.
David P. Gilebarto, 63, of Stockton, died Wednesday (Jan. 11, 2012), at home.
He was born March 17, 1948, in Dunkirk, the son of the late David F. Gilebarto and
Alice "Betty" (Rushton) Duggan.
A lifelong resident of Chautauqua County, Mr. Gilebarto served in the U.S. Navy
during the Vietnam era. He had been employed by Koch's Brewery in Dunkirk.
Survivors include one son, David P. Gilebarto Jr. of Jamestown; one daughter, Tricia
(Joe) Mangine of Stockton; one step-son, John (Mary) Spekczynski of Georgia; two
stepdaughters: Sue Lewellyn of Forestville and Barb Azzarella of Sunset Bay; two
brothers: Tom (Julie) Gilebarto of Loogootee, Ind., and Kevin (Robin) Gilebarto of
Bozrah, Conn.; two sisters: Lynn (Fabian) Hodgerney of Bedford, N.H., and Dorothy
(Robert) Leonard of Groton, Conn.; and a stepsister, Renate Morehouse of Texas. Several
grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth L. Gilebarto; a
stepdaughter, Debbie Spekczynski; a sis-ter, Barb Trombetta; and a brother, Jimmy Gilebarto.
Memorial services will be at a date and time to be announced. There will be no calling
hours.

Giles, Emily Christean
Emily Christean Giles, 26, Lizton, passed away June 18, 2012.
She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church, and a graduate of Bethesda Christian
Schools. She formerly worked for the North Salem State Bank.
Survivors include her son, Mason Ray Giles; parents, Stephen and Judy Erickson Waddell;
brother Benjamin (Christi) Waddell; sister Betsy (Scott) Berry; nephew, Judah Berry;
grandparents: Emily Erickson and Garland and Christean Waddell; aunt, Karen (Reynold)
Bohall; uncle, Dr. Kenneth (Miranda) Erickson; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by grandfather Richard D. Erickson.
Visitation was Friday, June 22, at Bethesda Baptist Church, with funeral services
at the church Saturday, June 23.

Giomento, Paulette S. Apperson
October 16, 2011, Paulette S. Apperson Giomento, 65, of 635 Falconer St., died Friday,
Oct. 14, 2011, in WCA Hospital.
She was born Aug. 23, 1946, in Clarksburg, W.V., the daughter of Willard and Madeline
Luzader Apperson.
Paulette worked for JCC at the Sheldon House as an assistant manager.
She received fulfillment in her life by helping others and was often a caretaker of
family, friends and neighbors. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren who were
the light of her life.
Paulette is survived by her husband, Anthony Giomento of Jamestown. a daughter Suzette
Carnahan of Randolph, a brother, James Apperson of Maryland; three sisters: Joy Garrett
of Bemus Point, Sandra Swanson of Celoron, N.Y. and Beverly Rickerson of Jamestown; and
three grandchildren: Shelby Loop, Brianna Loop and Keegan Carnahan.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father and two brothers, Donald Apperson and
Willard Apperson.

Goodrich, Edward C.
Edward C. Goodrich, 70, of 837 Prendergast Ave., passed away Thursday, April 26,
2012, in Corry Manor Nursing Home, Corry, Pa.
A lifelong area resident he was born April 1, 1942, in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of
the late Charles and Myrtle Stebbins Goodrich.
Before his retirement, he was employed by the Crawford Furniture Company and in
earlier years had worked for the former Watson Manufacturing Company for 30 years.
Surviving are three daughters: Julie (Jim) Howard of Ashville, Sheila Walters and
Connie (Peter) Marucci, both of Jamestown; seven grandchildren: Ryan (Jacob) Kopta
of Clymer, Megan Walters, Sarah Marucci and Andrew Marucci, all of Jamestown, Nathan
Walters of Norfolk Va., Brandie (Dustin) Hebner of Falconer, and Hailey Howard of
Panama; four great-grandchildren: Mason and Quinten Kopta, Ryen Hebner and Blaine
Walters; a brother, R.E. Goodrich of California; and two sisters: Ruth Stearns
of Ashville, and Betty Williams of Spartansburg, Pa.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The

Gordon, Ruth M.
Ruth M. Gordon, of 591 Hunt Road, Lakewood, N.Y., passed away at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday
(Dec. 27, 2011), in her home.
She was the widow of William C. Gordon, whom she married Oct. 3, 1942, and who died
Feb. 10, 1988.
Before her retirement, she was an English teacher for the Mayville Central School
System for 24 years.
She was a longtime member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church, and will be
remembered as the "Cookie Lady", baking dozens of cookies for many events.
Surviving are a daughter Susan A. Gordon-Brainard of Conewango Valley, N.Y.; two
sons: Dr. William C. Gordon of New Orleans, La., and Robert E. Gordon of Ocala,
Fla.; five grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Moore of
Gowanda, N.Y.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lakewood United Methodist

Gould, Roy Wagner
Roy Wagner Gould, 84, of Warren, Pa., died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Warren
Manor, where he has resided for the past four years.
He was born March 2, 1927, in Clinton, Pa., to the late Roy and Nadean Wagner
Gould. Following his graduation from high school in 1945, he served in the U.S.
Army during the Korean War. Adherent to his love of the outdoors and hunting,
Roy spent 10 years working for the U.S. Forest Service. Roy had also been a
jockey; he raised and raced his own horses. He had lived in Warren for the
past 28 years.
Roy is survived by his wife, Linda Whittington Gould, whom he married Oct. 20,
1990, in Jamestown, N.Y. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two
step-children, William Hardwick and Cathleen Hardwick, both of Jamestown;
mother-in-law, Henrietta Whittington, of Warren; two grandchildren, Gabriel
and Savannah Hardwick, both of Jamestown; best friends, Lon Bess and wife,
Becky, of Grove City, Pa.; and cousins, Georgia Hipkins and husband, Edward,
of Yankee Farms, Pa. and William Charles of Clinton, Pa.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, in
the Lander Volunteer Fire Department, 4400 Miller Hill Road, Russell, Pa.,
with the Rev. Wade Barto, pastor of Lander Methodist Church, officiating.

Gourley, Jeanne D.
Jeanne D. Gourley, 84, of 110 Chadwick St., in Jamestown, passed away Thursday,
Dec. 15, 2011, in WCA Hospital.
An area resident most of her life, she was born May 31, 1927, in Derby, N.Y.,
a daughter of the late LaVerne and Erma Wardwell Danforth.
She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1945 and studied further
at Jamestown Community College.
Jeanne took great pride in being one of the first certified public secretaries
(CPS) in the area. Throughout the years, she had been employed by the former
Jamestown Telephone Co., GMAC in Jamestown, Siedman & Siedman, Art Metal Corp.,
Ulrich Planfiling, Phillips Lytle, and retired from Cummins Engine in Lakewood.
From 1975 until the present, she had also owned and operated the Stever
Co., a mimeograph and copying company.
Jeanne was an active member of First Baptist Church, where she presently served
as treasurer and was a former Sunday school teacher. She was past president
of the National Secretaries Association and active in the 100 Member Club and
class of 1945.
She was a member of the Business Professional Women, Zonta Club of Jamestown,
Westside Women's Club and a life member of the Marvin Community House, where
she served on the board of trustees.
Surviving are three children: Kathleen A. Gourley of Jamestown, Robert (Laurie)
Gourley of Missouri City, Texas, and Cindy D. Anderson of Matthews, N.C.;
three grandchildren: Tim (Jessa) Anderson of LeRoy, N.Y., Jill E. Anderson
of Indian Land, S.C., and Cara Jean Gourley of North Andover, Mass.; a sister,
Pat Lamphear of Lakewood; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E.
Gourley, whom she married June 14, 1947, and who died June 28 2001; a brother,
LaVerne Danforth; and sister, Judy Kayner.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church. The Rev.
Richard Young and the Rev. Michael Childs will officiate. Burial will be in Lake
View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home,

Greenfield, Marcus J. “Marc”
Marcus J. "Marc" Greenfield, 58, of 816 Spring St., formerly of Houston, Texas, died
Thursday (April 26, 2012), in WCA Hospital.
He was born Oct. 15, 1953, in Houston the son of the late Helen Greenfield.
Marc worked as a boat mechanic in Houston, and locally at Smith Boys Marina and
Ashville Bay Marina. He also worked as an auto mechanic and for Meals on Wheels.
Marc was devoted to his companion of 26 years, Karen Garvey, and was a caregiver
to her late parents, Donald and Dorothy Garvey.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam, and participated in the Salamanca
Veterans Tribute Pow Wow. Marc enjoyed NASCAR, was a Dale Earnhart Sr. fan, watching
the History Channel, old cars, Harley Davidsons, and listening to Stevie Ray
Vaughan. Lately he was restoring bicycles at the Gateway Center for needy children
through Community Helping Hands. He will be missed by his cat, Xena.
In addition to his companion, Karen Garvey, he is survived by a sister-in-law, Carol
Garvey (Bruce Blood) of Little Valley; four nieces: Tracy (David) Woodfield of
Virginia, Carrie (Chris) Thompson of Arizona, Melissa (Greg) Barber of Falconer,
Jessica Emke (Dan H,) of Jamestown; eight great-nieces and nephews; a sister, Tanya
Greenfield and a brother, Gary Greenfield, both of Houston.
Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Greenfield.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev.
Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Gregor, Anna B.
Anna B. Gregor, 102, of the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Centerm died Oct. 26,
2011, following a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 11, 1909, in Corry Pa., the daughter of Ines and Harris
Watrous. She married John P. Gregor on Dec. 6, 1928, and moved to Jamestown.
Mrs. Gregor was employed at Crescent Tool and later worked with her husband
as bookkeeper for Mal's and Johnnie's Auto Repair.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Bemus, and in later years
Ss. Peter and Paul, Jamestown remaining a longtime member of Catholic Daughters.
She was also an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society of Our Lady
of Lourdes Church in Bemus Point.
She crocheted and knitted items for R.S.V.P for many years and enjoying
sharing her talents with recipients of the items she made. Her passion and
love of gardening, especially roses, and her love of the color purple was well
known to everyone.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane (Jim) Lucey of Bemus Point; son, Dennis
(Holly) Gregor of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and sister, Charlotte (Fred) Clark of
Corry, Pa. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Mark (Janet) Gregor of
Rochester, N.Y., David (Kim) Gregor of Wilmington, Del., Patrick (Christina)
Gregor of Newark, Del., Cheryl (Douglas) Gustafson of Bemus Point, N.Y.,
Patricia (Steve) Pembridge of Placitas, N,M,, Michelle (John) Novotny of
Bemus Point, N.Y., Christine Lucey of West Seneca, N.Y., Kelli Wilds of Wrentham,
Mass., and Kim (Steve) Sheffieck of Milwaukee, Wis., and 17 great-grandchildren,
and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Gregor, who died March 20,
1982; her son, Jack P. Gregor Jr., who died Aug, 5, 1990; sisters: Ida Christenson
and Shirley Carlson; and brothers: Lyle and Robert Watrous.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011,
at St. Mary of Lourdes Church in Bemus Point, N.Y.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Family and friends will be received
from 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 28, 2011, at the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian
Wake Service will be held at 4 p.m.

Griesmaier, Susan Elizabeth Schneider
Susan Elizabeth Schneider Griesmaier, 64, passed away Nov. 9, 2011, in Asheville,
N.C., in the arms of family members.
She was born in Erie, Pa., on Sept. 8, 1947, the daughter of Ben and Jeannette
Schneider.
Susan attended Lakewood, Southwestern Central and graduated from Jamestown High
School in 1965. She was confirmed in and a former member of the First Covenant
Church, Jamestown.
Her undergraduate education was at North Park College, Chicago, Ill, and
University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, Wash. Later she earned her master's degree
from Western Carolina University.
A lifelong teacher, Susan taught in Spain, Saudi Arabia, Asheville, N.C., and
most recently special education at Evergreen Community Charter School.
She sought out community service and volunteer work at her neighborhood
association, YMCA, CarePartners Hospice, Women in Black, WomanSong, and
JUBILEE! Church, where she was a member. She was an unpublished writer.
Sadly missed by all her students, friends and relatives. "Goodbye, Little
Suzie, Goodbye!"
Susan is survived by her husband, Jeffery J. Griesmaier (Asheville); her
daughter, Natasha Elizabeth Griesmaier and fiance, Christopher R. Brejnak
(Chicago, Ill.); sisters: Jeanne (Marsdin) Van Order and Karen Schneider;
brothers: Philip (Janet) Schneider, Stephen (Barbara) Schneider and James
(Carol) Schneider; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held in Susan's garden at her residence in Asheville,
N.C. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011. Great stories were told, and many personal
testimonials about Susan were given, and they reflected that she cared most
for the down-and-out, the underprivileged.
The emphasis was 'Music of Her Life.' Many old hymns and new songs were
sung by her lady friends of the WomanSong choral group. Sister Jeanne played
a violin solo "There is a Balm in Gilead" and the Shetland air "Da Slocket
Light." CiCi Meredith performed a trumpet solo of "When the Saints Go Marching
In" to conclude the service.
A conservation minded person, Susan loved gardening, recycling, hiking the
Smokies, swimming in the Atlantic Ocean (Folly Beach, N.C.), walking her
dogs in the woods and biking with friends and relatives. She lived with
adventure; no one will forget her three attempts to cross the Nubian Desert,
Sudan, Africa with Jeff and daughter, Natasha in a VW camper during Christmas
1982. What we remember most about Susan is that she cared about everyone in
the world, putting all before herself. Her greatest gift to others was her

Grover, Ina Viola Anderson
Ina Viola Anderson Grover, 93, formerly of 175 Aldren Ave., Jamestown, passed from
this earth on May 22, 2012, at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
Ina was born in Quincy, Mass., on March 26, 1919, to the late Kirstence Nielsen
Anderson and Harry N. Anderson and was raised in Medford, Mass. She was employed
at John Hancock Insurance Co. until her marriage to Horace Nelson Grover on June
19, 1942. They then re-located to Naugatuck, Conn., Lexington, Mass., and Hudson,
Ohio. Finally, they moved to Jamestown in 1997.
Ina's role as a wife, homemaker and mother brought great joy to her life. The love,
devotion and care she gave her children, together with Horace's partnership in
parenting, enabled all four to become firmly established and successful in navigating
the challenges of life. She modeled love to all generations of her family, friends
and neighbors, however near or far.
Ina and Horace were founding members of two congregations of the Evangelical Covenant
Church, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and later in Hudson. She was active in many church
activities. She later became a member of Zion Covenant Church in Jamestown.
Besides working part time, Ina also served as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. Her
hobbies included oil painting and water colors, gardening and knitting. She loved to
read novels and knit scarves for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She remained
a voracious reader up until the last days of her life.
Ina is survived by one sister, Mae (Gil) Reynolds of Pemaquid, Maine; four children:
Janice (James) Annes of Glenview, Ill., Nelson (Pamela) Grover of Centerville, Ohio,
Kenneth (Kathy) Grover of Boise, Idaho, and Lisa (Kent) Landin of Sugar Grove, Pa.;
12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Horace, who died
September 14, 2006; a sister, Esther Kiernan; and two brothers, Harry and Frank Anderson.
A memorial service and visitation will be held the first week in August at a time to
be announced by the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Groves, Marilyn
Marilyn Groves, 76 of 1785 Stoney Run Road, Wrightsville, died Sunday, Dec. 25,
2011, at the Corry Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 21, 1935, in Wrightsville, a daughter of the late Cary and
Marguerite (Driscoll) Clark. Marilyn worked for 18 years as a LPN at WCA Hospital in
Jamestown. She was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and used that talent with
the Sweet Adelines, Chautauqua Shores Chapter, serving as past president and on the
board for over 20 yrs. During those 20 years, she belonged to various quartets in
the area. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading and traveling. She will be
missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by three sons, Dale Groves and Dean Groves both of Sugar Grove, James
Groves of Pittsfield; a daughter, Marla (Mark) Lucas of Russell; a sister, Kay Sechriest
of Warren; seven grandchildren and many adopted children, grandchildren and nieces
and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Groves
in 1980, a brother Floyd Clark and a sister Dora Hardy.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home
and Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St., in Youngsville. A funeral and committal
service will be held there on Thursday at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Stilson
Hill Cemetery.

Grunau, Erna M.
Erna Marie Petersen Grunau, 84, went home to be with her Lord, her parents,
her brothers and sister on Nov. 26, 2011.
She was born and raised in the northern part of Germany, and was a seamstress
by trade. She married her husband, Klaus in 1956, and came to America by ship
two weeks later.
She lived in Bemus Point, N.Y. until 1979, and then moved to Hendersonville N.C.
She spent most of her time in New York raising her family, and she was very
active at Bethel Baptist Church. She was a very caring wife and mother who loved
to have large gardens from which she did a lot of canning. She loved to cook,
entertain and sew. In Bemus Point, she had two kitchens and would love to
entertain the large Sunday school classes from her church. Many of the clothes
her children wore growing up were sewn by her.
In North Carolina, she enjoyed helping people with health concerns and served
Henderson County for 25 years with a nutritional business. She enjoyed
having family here from Germany in 2006 when she and Klaus celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary.
She is preceeded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Anna; her five
brothers: Heine, Harro, Thomas, Claus and Hans Walter; and one sister, Ahne.
She is survived by her husband, Klaus; her son, Jim and his wife, Elaine;
her grandchild, Christopher; and her daughter, Heidi.
All of Erna's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her
daughter, Heidi who relocated her life and changed careers back to
Hendersonville to help in the care of her cousin, Helen Louise first,
and then in the care of her long illness.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 from 5 pm to 7 p.m.
at the Jackson Funeral home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, in
the Chapel of The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service. The Rev. Buddy
Mullinax officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Gullo, Dorothy Ann
Dorothy Ann Gullo, 86, of Jamestown N.Y., passed away at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 24,
2012, in WCA Hospital.
She was born December 4, 1925, in Punxsutawney, Pa. She was the daughter if the
late Richard and Mary Runfola Lisciandro.
She attended Jamestown Schools and later became employed at "The Ritz" restaurant as
well as "Mary Bees" restaurant as a waitress.
Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and bake for
her family and friends. She was a blessing to all of us. She was a faithful Catholic
and a communicant of St. James Church and Sacred Heart of Mary Church in North
Collins, N.Y.
Surviving is her husband of 61 years Joseph Gullo of Jamestown, N.Y.; a son Samuel
(Debbie) Gullo of Jamestown, N.Y.; a daughter Maryjane Gardner (David) of Jupiter, Fla;
a son Joey Gullo of Jamestown, N.Y.; a daughter Gloria Gullo of Jamestown, N.Y.; a
daughter Patricia Schifano of Jamestown, N.Y.; four grandchildren: Adam Gullo of
Jamestown, N.Y.; Nichole Mason (Adam) of Jamestown, N.Y.: Brandon Gardner of Orlando,
Fla., and Chelsea Schifano of Jamestown, N.Y.; a great-grandson, Nico Mason; and a
sister Mary Cusimano of Jamestown, N.Y.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Josephine Eppolito,
Cusima Bonfiglio, Francis Ferrari and Concetta Inserra; and her brothers: Samuel
Lisciandro, John Lisciandro, Charles Lisciandro, Joseph Lisciandro and Leonard Lisciandro.
Friends and family will be received 4 p.m to 8 p.m at Migliore Funeral Home Tuesday,
June 26, 2012. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in
St. James Parish. The Rev. Darrell Duffy, pastor, will be celebrant.

Gunsay, Beatrice (nee Augusta)
Beatrice Gunsay (nee Augusta), born Feb. 29, 1924, in Falconer, N.Y., peacefully
passed on Dec. 26, 2011, in San Juan Capistrano, Calif.
Beatrice was survived by her sister, Anita Larson of Jamestown, N.Y.; sister-in-law,
Rose Augusta of Orange, Calif.; two nieces: Constance Hoepner of Corona del Mar, Calif.,
and Maxine Augusta of San Clemente, Calif.; four nephews: Frank Augusta of San Clemente,
Calif., Samuel Augusta Jr. of Felton, Calif., Daniel Larson of Germany, and John
Larson of Amherst, N.Y.; also four grandnephews, three grand-nieces and a great-grand-
nephew.
She was the widow of Mehmet Gunsay, and was predeceased by her parents Frank and
Concetta (nee Salamone) Augusta; her brothers: Dominic and Samuel Augusta; and sisters:
Constance Augusta and Frances Augusta.
Prior to retirement, she was a restaurateur and a nutrition retailer.
A Mass intention will be said at the Serra Chapel of the Mission Basilica San Juan
Capistrano, Calif., on Feb. 29, 2012. According to her wishes, she will be placed
at sea.
Gustafson, Joan Webb
Joan Webb Gustafson, 79, of Canajoharie, N.Y., formerly of Lakewood, N.Y., passed
away peacefully on Thursday (June 7, 2012), in the Palatine Nursing Home, Palatine
Bridge, N.Y.
A Jamestown area resident for most of her life, before moving to Palatine Bridge
three years ago to be closer to her family, she was born Sept. 8, 1932, in Jamestown,
N.Y., a daughter of the late Billy and Myrtle Miller Webb.
Before her retirement, she was employed as a secretary in the medical office of Dr.
Rajendra Sood for more than 20 years. In earlier years, she had worked as a manager
for Brooks Fashions and also for Ormond Hosiery Shop.
Joan was a member of the WCA Hospital Auxiliary and also was a volunteer at WCA for
several years.
Surviving are a son, Karl W. (Kim) Gustafson, a grandson, Karl W. Gustafson Jr. of
Canajoharie, N.Y.; her sisters-in-law: Caroline Kingsbury, Lucy Arnone, Georgia Riley;
and also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Allen Gustafson,
whom she married May 7, 1955, and who died Jan. 4, 1971.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, in the Lind Funeral Home. The
Rev. Charles H. Gustafson, retired Lutheran pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the
Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, and for one hour prior
to the service on Saturday in the funeral home.

Sheryl D. Gustafson, 66, of Avon Park, Fla., formerly of Mayville, N.Y., died
unexpectedly June 16, 2012, in Florida.
She was born Jan. 4, 1946, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late William C.
Dowd and Ruth Hurl Dowd. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Richard
Gustafson, whom she married Nov. 22, 1965. She is survived by her daughters, Lori J.

Bottomley of Fort Worth, Texas; and her son Lt. Cmdr. Richard C. (Glenda) Gustafson

She was preceded in death by her brother William C. Dowd in 2011 grand-daughter,
Erin Elizabeth Ayrault in 1995, a step-grandson, Lawrence Vincent Ayrault in 2003
and grandson-in-law Stephen Sawyer in 2008.
Sheryl was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her many grandchildren affectionately
called her "mema." As her family started to grow and move to various states she
would call and sing songs over the phone to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
"You Are My Sunshine" and "I Love You A Bushel and A Peck" were some all-time favorites.
Sheryl, along with her husband, previously owned and operated Dick's Harbor House
in Mayville, Four Seasons Family Restaurant in Westfield and Four Seasons Family
Restaurant in Dunkirk. She also had been employed by MRC Bearings in Falconer as an
administrative assistant. She had many interests over the years which included;
sewing, bingo, bowling, genealogy and computers. She was a past member of the
Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department, DAR, Genealogy Society and The Red Hat Society.
Sheryl was a very giving person and donated her secretarial services to these
organizations.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 22 at Freay Funeral Home
in Mayville. The funeral service will be held Saturday June 23 at 2 p.m. at
Freay Funeral Home
The Rev. Cathy Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.
