Radspinner, Gloria Ann (Heilman)
Gloria Ann (Heilman) Radspinner, 64, of Cold Creek
Canyon, 154 Oak Trail Circle, Las Vegas, Nev.,passed
away to be with her Lord on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012.
She was born Sept. 13, 1948, in Jamestown, N.Y., the
daughter of the late Walter L. Heilman Sr. and Pollyanna
Morrison of Jamestown.
She was married to Edward E. Radspinner, the love
of her life, for 46 1/2 years, living 31 years in Las
Vegas and 33 years in the Kennedy, N.Y., area.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her adopted daughter, Rene Robinson
of St. Marys, Pa.; her mother, Pollyanna Morrison of Jamestown; a brother, Walter L.
(Julie) Heilman Jr. of Kennedy; a sister, Bonna (Stewart) Westerlund of Jamestown,
N.Y.; a niece, Lynn (Mike) Classon; and great-nephews Tyler, Ryan and Alex of Jamestown;
Samantha (Frank) Alemar of Jamestown, N.Y.; and nephew, Patrick Heilman of Charleston,
S.C. She is also survived by many cousins.
Gloria was a very gifted, self-taught artist. She also enjoyed her large beautiful
English garden, which she enjoyed working in. Gloria and her husband built three new
homes during their marriage, one outside of Kennedy, N.Y., one in the outskirts of Las
Vegas, Nev., and their last home at Cold Creek Canyon, Nev.
She was a graduate of Falconer High School in 1966. She worked at Sterling Manufacturing
for nine years. Gloria and her husband also had an upholstery business at their home
in Kennedy.
She was predeceased by her father, Walter L. Heilman Sr. in 1999, a brother, Eugene
L. Heilman on April 8, 2010, paternal grandparents Carl and Emma Heilman and maternal
grandparents Leslie J. Wright and Lilan M. Clement, several aunts and uncles, and two
cousins, Wayne Heilman and Sandra Schaffer.
A memorial service will be held at the Mountain Community Building at Cold Creek
Canyon, Nev.

Raffa, Sebastian “Busty” C. Jr.
Sebastian "Busty" C. Raffa Jr., 84, of 9 Howard St., Jamestown, went to be with the
Lord at 7:10 a.m. Monday (April 23, 2012), at his residence.
He was born in Jamestown on April 8, 1928, the son of Sebastian and Sarah Lupica Raffa,
and was employed at Marlin Rockwell for 35 years, having various positions, an assembler,
grinder and inspector, and retired in 1990.
Busty served with the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952, and was stationed in Germany. He was
a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and a former council president,
an usher and was in charge of the Trinity Pairs, a communion steward for shut-ins
and was known as the Candy Man at the church for the children (anyone shorter
than him could have a piece of candy).
Busty was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War John W. Tiffany Post 53
and the American Legion Samuel Derby Post 556.
He loved his family very much and especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren. He
also liked the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, old movies, fishing, hunting,
camping, gardening and his dog, Holly.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ludwiczak Raffa, whom he married June 29, 1957,
in Jamestown; two daughters: Barbara J. Angus, San Francisco, Calif., and Theresa
(Chuck) Yaw, Salamanca, N.Y.; two grandsons: Matthew (Melinda) Moran, Steamburg,
N.Y., and Jason Yaw, Salamanca, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren: James, John and
Andi Moran, Steamburg; a brother, Anthony (Evelyn) Raffa; two sisters; Mary DiNapoli
and Josephine (Joseph) Constantino, Jamestown; a stepgranddaughter, Kristan Reynolds,
Smethport, Pa.; and three step great-grandsons: Joshua, Michael and Alex. Several
nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elizabeth Raffa.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Holy Trinity Lutheran
Church. The Rev. Dan Nagle, pastor of First Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Ramsey, Joyce E.
Joyce E. Ramsey, 83, of Jamestown passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012,
in WCA Hospital surrounded by her family.
A lifelong area resident, she was born Jan. 28, 1928, in Jamestown,
the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys Mitchell LeRoy.
Joyce was a graduate of Jamestown High School and in earlier years
had been employed by Embers Restaurant, House of Petillo and Proto Tool.
Prior to retirement she was employed by RSVP of Lutheran Social Services
retiring in 2007.
Joyce will be deeply missed by her family and friends and enjoyed
cooking and baking for them.
Surviving are her children, Mark (Sherry) Ramsey of Lakewood and Shelley Ramsey
of Jamestown; six grandchildren: Ryan Wilstie, Shawn (Nancy) Ramsey, Chad (Kellie)
Ramsey, Mark Ramsey Jr., Heather Ramsey and Megan (Jason) Burch; 12 great-grandchildren:
Porter and Harland Wiltsie, Cayley and Cameron Ramsey, Anslee Brooke, Alexis, Allison,
Chad Jr., Tanner, Collin, Brendon and Sawyer Ramsey.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Roberta Ross.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev.
Daniel S. Rumfelt, chaplain of Lutheran Home, will officiate. Burial will be in
Allen Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Ranney, Brian K.
Brian K. Ranney, 38, of Fredonia, died Monday evening
(Oct. 31, 2011) at home.
He was born Jan. 29, 1973, in Westfield, the son of Larry and
Carol (Bradley) Ranney of Dewittville, N.Y.
In his youth, Brian had been a Cub Scout and Boy Scout,
earning his Eagle Award, scouting's highest honor. He was in
the Order of the Arrow, obtaining Vigil Honor. He enjoyed
camping and being with his family and friends. For nine years,
he was a camp staff member at Camp Merz in Mayville, N.Y.
A 1992 alumnus of Mayville Central School, Brian graduated
from Fredonia State University College in 1998 with a master's in
education and a minor in theater.
He had been a ninth grade English teacher at Cassadaga Valley Central School
from 1999 until his retirement in 2009, due to illness.
Brian very much enjoyed what he did. He had a great passion for teaching
and the ability to connect with his students. He was well-liked by his
students and fellow teachers.
Brian was the producer for the annual school musical and in charge of the
"stage crew.'' He was best known for his love for and knowledge of
"Star Wars.'' One of his greatest disappointments is not having the opportunity
to teach his former students' siblings.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Colleen (Swanson) Ranney;
three stepchildren: Olivia, Joey and Julie Trippi, all of Fredonia; one
brother, Barry P. Ranney of Culpeper, Va.; and one nephew, Evan P.
Ranney of Newark, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, paternal grand- parents
and three uncles.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial
which will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church.
Burial will be in Cassadaga Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday
from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.

Ransom, Ronald R.
Ronald R. Ransom of Brocton passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at Brooks
Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side.
He was born May 4, 1915, the son of the late Artur and Ellen (Bates) Ransom.
He was retired from the Welch's Brocton plant and the State University of New York
at Fredonia as groundskeeper. He was co-owner of Harvey Sales and Service Used Auto
in Brocton for over 20 years.
Ronald had a passion for coins and was a lifetime member of the Westfield and
Jamestown coin clubs. He was a former member of Hose 1 and the Brocton Fire
Department. He was a current member of their exempt organization. He was also a Mason.
He is survived by his sons: Donald "Doc" (Donna) Ransom of Arizona, and Robert (Kelly)
Ransom of Brocton; his son-in-law, James Kawski of Fredonia; a sister, Thelma "Gladys"
(Jay) Noble of Brocton; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Hilda (Delcamp)
Ransom; his daughter, Veronica ''Tootie'' Kawski; and two sisters: Grace Ellen Ransom
and Irene Ransom Worthington.
Friends may call at the Morse Funeral Home, Highland Avenue, Brocton, on Friday,
Dec. 9, 2011, from 6 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, with
Pastor Lanny Morrison officiating. Interment will follow at the Portland Evergreen
Cemetery.

Rawson, James Frank
August 31, 2012
James Frank Rawson, 79, of Lexington, Ky., formerly of Jamestown, N.Y., went to heaven
on Thursday, August 23, 2012.
He was born Aug. 11, 1933, the son of the late George L. and Estella Rawson. Along
with his sister, the late Elsie and brother, the late John, they were raised at the
Masonic Home in Utica, N.Y.
He married Jean LaBelle July 1955, and entered the U.S. Air Force serving until
1959. They then divorced in November 1967, and he married Charlotte.
Surviving are his children: Rochelle (Jerry) Pruit, Linda (Richard) Reichardt, Lisa
(Melody) Rawson, Allison (James) Soper, Julie Rawson, Christopher (Tammy) Temple
and Dany Rawson.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Raynor, Ward F.
DEWITTVILLE – Ward F. Raynor, 91, of 6899 Beech Hill Road, Dewittville, died Saturday
(July 12, 2014) in his home.
He was born September 24, 1922 in Dewittville, the son of the late Walter and Sarah
Farrar Raynor.
Ward was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1944 and U.S. Air Force from 1950 to
1952.
Ward owned and operated a farm and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s
Witness in Westfield.
One thing that Ward enjoyed was he loved talking to people.
He is survived by six daughters, Judy Thies of Dewittville, Linda Wray of Dewittville,
Suzanne Conway of Dunkirk, Diane Schultz of Glen Burnie, MD, Donna Dixon of Dewittville,
and Dawn Raynor of Dewittville; two sons, Robin Raynor of Dewittville and Gene Raynor of
Dewittville; he is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Miller Raynor, whom he married August 26,
1942 in Mayville, and who died July 5, 1997; two sons, Walter and William Raynor; three
grandsons, James Raynor, Richard Stow, and William Raynor Jr.; and one brother, Louis F.
Raynor.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the
Portland Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive on Saturday (July 26, 2014) from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Hartfield
Fire Hall.

Reimondo, Mary E.
Mary E. Reimondo, 78, of Willard Street Extension, Jamestown, passed away Sunday
(April 29, 2012) in her home.
She was born October 10, 1933, in Clearfield, Pa., the daughter of the late William
and Minnie Ardray Turner.
Mary was a graduate of Warren High School and in earlier years was employed by Nalbone
Plumbing and Heating. Prior to retirement she was employed by the Jamestown Cycle
Shop as a bookkeeper.
She was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church. Mary will be remembered
as loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending
time with her family, reading, bird watching, traveling and camping.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Robert P. Reimondo, whom she married July
17, 1954, in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, Falconer, her daughter, Sharon
(Bill) Kilmartin of Falconer; her son Daniel (Debbie) Reimondo of Falconer; her
granddaughter Kaitlin Kilmartin; her grandson, William Kilmartin, and her
great granddaughter, Izabella Kilmartin.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by four sisters: Jean Turner, Kathrine
Turner, Helen Turner Bean and Ruth Turner; and two brothers: Fred Turner and
William Turner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady
of Loreto Catholic Church, Falconer. The Rev. Joseph Janaczek, pastor of the church,
will be celebrant. Inurnment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Falconer
Funeral Home. A Christian Wake service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the
funeral home.

Reitz, Elsie M. Chubb
October 14, 2011, WARREN, Pa. - Elsie M. Chubb Reitz, 99, of Fox Hill
Road, Russell, Pa., formerly of Springfield, Ohio, passed away at
10:57 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, in the Warren Manor.
She was born April 21, 1912, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of the late Adolph
and Rose Schmid Chubb.
Mrs. Reitz attended a one-room school house on Bowen Road in Randolph, and was
a graduate of Randolph Central School and the Fredonia Normal School, where
she received her teacher training certificate. She and her late husband, Francis
owned and operated gasoline service stations in Onoville, Fredonia, and Enon, Ohio.
She was a communicant of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Warren, where she
served on the Altar & Rosary Society and had also served and held office earlier
for the Altar & Rosary Society at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Randolph.
Elsie was a member of the Lioness Club of Russell, North Warren Craft Club and
the Warren Garden Club. She en-joyed making many kinds of crafts, and was and
avid flower gardener.
She is survived by her son, Larry F. Reitz of Russell, Pa.; a brother, Ernest
"Bud" Chubb and his wife, Betty of East Randolph; as well as several nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis R. Reitz, whom she married
on June 23, 1937, in St. Patrick's Church in Randolph, and who preceded her on
Sept. 29, 1990; and two infant sisters: Marie Agnes Chubb and Irene Chubb.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the VanRensselaer
and Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held at 11 a.m. Monday (Oct. 17, 2011), in St. Patrick's Catholic
Church in Randolph, with the Rev. Joseph Janaszek as celebrant. Burial
will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Randolph.

Rexford, Gladis Irene
Gladis Irene Rexford, 80, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at the Lutheran
Home and Rehabilitation Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ernest Leroy
Rexford who died March 26, 2011.
For several years, she and her husband raised many foster children
and loved them as their own.
Surviving are four children: Judy Bates, David Rexford, Ernest "Roy"
Rexford and Brenda McChesney. She had 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents,
Jerry David Sr. and Viola Grace Foster, and several brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday Nov. 25, 2011, in Christ
Chapel at Lutheran Social Services.
Rhinehart, Hobart McKay
CATTARAUGUS - Hobart McKay Rhinehart, 83, a retired teacher for Cattaraugus
Central School, where he worked for 34 years, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at
Olean General Hospital in Olean, N.Y.
He was born July 22, 1928, in Erie, Pa., the son of the late Rupert and
Katherine (Davis) Rhinehart.
Hobie also worked for Gobar branch of Carborundum for 11 years in Niagara
Falls. He taught at Cassadaga Central for three years before employment at
Cattaraugus.
He was a member and co-founder of CCSE Credit Union, a NYSUT member and
past president, member of the Labor Council, and chairman of the Cattaraugus
County Museum 1976 to 2011. He was past president of the AFL-CIO and member
of the Religous Coalition and several other associations.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey (Glenn) Rhinehart, whom he married on
July 23, 1948, of Cattaraugus, N.Y.; five children: Richard (Ellen) Rhinehart
(son) of Waterville, Maine, Yvonne (William) Wehust (daughter) of Rushford, N.Y.,
Loren Rhinehart (son) of Cattaraugus, N.Y., John (Amy) Rhinehart (son) of
Cattaraugus, N.Y., and Kevin Waite (foster son) of East Otto, N.Y.; six
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Anne Katherine
Rhinehart; two brothers: Rupert Rhinehart and Gale Rhinehart; and three sisters;
MaryLee Tyler, Louise Hopkins and Georgia Allen.
Visitation will be held at Hills Funeral Chapel, 55 S. Main St., Cattaraugus,
on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m
Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at 10 a.m., at Roberts
Memorial Free Methodist Church, South Street, Cattaraugus, N.Y. The Rev. Tony
Evans of the Cattaraugus County Youth Council and the Rev. Mike Jones of Roberts

Rhoades, Glendine
Glendine Rhoades, 88, formerly of Conewango Valley and 842 N. Main St., Jamestown,
passed away Sunday (April 29, 2012), in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center.
A lifelong area resident, she was born July 17, 1923, in Conewango Valley, the daughter
of the late Harold and Elva Barhite Rhoades.
Glendine was a graduate of Ellington High School, and in earlier years was employed
by Swanson Machine, Weber Knapp and Jamestown General Hospital. Prior to retirement
she was employed by Dr. Torrance's office in Jamestown.
Surviving are two sisters: Genevieve Hussey of Lake Mary, Fla., and Sharon Smith
of Randolph; nieces and nephews: Troy Smith, Shari O'Brien, Dennis Rhoades, Donald
Rhoades, Diane Lecceardone and Sandra Tonger.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond L. Rhoades.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday in the Fal-coner Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald
E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in East Randolph Cemetery.

Riedesel, Virginia M. (Haskin)
WESTFIELD - Virginia M. (Haskin) Riedesel, 83, of Eustis, Fla., formerly of Brocton
and Westfield, N.Y., died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at Florida Hospital-Waterman, Tavares,
Fla.
Virginia was born Jan. 28, 1928, in Maple Springs, N.Y., the daughter of the late
Warren and Bernice (Smith) Haskin.
A Westfield and Brocton resident most all her life, she had resided in Eustace, Fla.,
since 2008. Virginia had been employed by the Chautauqua County Home as a nurse's aide
and later did private duty nursing. She had also been employed at Welch Foods in the
processing department. Virginia enjoyed flowers, loved her miniature Dashound dog,
Ashley, and "trichem" painting. However, her main love was for her family.
She is survived by her two sons: Paul Riedesel of Canandaigua, N.Y., and Rick Riedesel
of Eustis, Fla. She is further survived by her six sisters: Martha Sherman, Patricia
Cochran, Phyllis Genthner and Judy Hoffman, all of Westfield, N.Y., OnaLee Baker of
New Mexico, and Donna Carter of Corry, Pa.; two brothers: Larry Haskin of Utica, N.Y.,
and Howard Haskin of Westfield, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren
also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Riedesel, who died in 1991; her
daughter, Susan Lynn Riedesel, who died in 2005; and by two sons: John and Daniel Riedesel,
who both died in 2011.

Riordan, William Edward
William Edward Riordan, born in Yonkers, N.Y. on Nov. 23, 1925, passed away at
age 86 on Jan. 31, 2012, at the Freedom Village Health Center in Bradenton, Fla.
He spent his early years in Yonkers, N.Y. but the family moved to Connecticut at
the start of World War II where they lived in Easton and Westport. In 1943, Bill
joined the Navy and served three years of active duty as a signalman on supply ships
sailing to the Mideast, Asia, Australia and Europe where he earned the nickname "Flags."
After the war he attended the University of Connecticut on the GI Bill and graduated
in 1950 with a degree in agriculture.
He married Harriet Washburn in 1957 and established his own business as a land surveyor
in Danbury, Conn. They had two children, Michael and Mary. After divorcing in 1979,
he married Zada Merill in 1981. He became actively involved in pro-environment and anti-war
causes attending rallies in Washington D.C., New York and Danbury, Conn. He retired in
1989 to become a "citizen's diplomat," traveling to the USSR and working to create
improved ethnic relationships locally. In 1998 Bill and Zada became "snowbirds" spending
winters in Florida and summers in their self-built yurt in New York state.
Bill loved the outdoors and had a lifelong passion for our forests and wildlife. In his
later years he became an international tree climber and taught young and old alike how to
climb trees with ropes. Generous and gregarious, he would sing and dance at the slightest
suggestion. Bill was a spiritual seeker. Raised as a Catholic, he joined Concept Therapy,
Eckankar, and was a follower of "Ram Dass" later in life.
He and Zada joined the Manatee Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in 2002 where he was
active in the choir.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Edward, mother Madeleine, and his sister
Anita Gross. He is survived by his wife Zada, his children Michael Riordan and Mary Brown,
stepdaughter Kathy Noskoff, his grandchildren, Jennifer and Lindsey Riordan, Krystal,
Stephany and Jacob Brown, his sister, Mary Allen, his brothers, David and Allen Riordan,
and many nieces and nephews.
Rivera, Ralph G. Jr.
WESTFIELD - Ralph G. Rivera Jr., 55, of Sampson St., Jamestown, formerly of Westfield,
N.Y., died Monday, May 28, 2012, in Ashville, N.Y.
Ralph was born Aug. 24, 1956, in Westfield, N.Y., the son of the late Ralph G.
and Confesora (Martinez Santiago) Rivera Sr.
Ralph was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving honorably from 1974 until 1976. Upon
his return, he spent most of his life in Jamestown, N.Y., as a self-employed general
contractor. Ralph was known for the quality of his work and his expertise. He was a
hard worker, who took pride in his work, and he was always going the extra mile. Ralph
was gracious and generous, and he always enjoyed helping his friends and family. Mr.
Rivera was a member of American Legion.
He leaves behind four children: Shawn J. Rivera of Ashville, Nicole R. Young and
husband, Kevin N. Young, of Jamestown, Russell ''Rusty'' A. Maring of Mayville, N.Y.,
and Anthony ''Tony'' J. Maring of Silver Springs, Md. Ralph also leaves behind five
grandchildren: newly born Kevin N. Young Jr., Alyssa J. Rivera, Contessa P. Rivera,
Elijah M. Rivera, and Olivia A.M. Maring.
He is the brother of Gladys Rivera of Westfield, N.Y., Middalia Kan of Marshburg, Pa.,
Lus Marie Rivera of Jamestown, N.Y., and Robert L. Rivera of Alpharetta, Ga.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother; and two
infant sisters.
Calling hours will be Saturday, June 2, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the
MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, N.Y., where the funeral service
will be held immediately following at 8 p.m. Deacon Sam Puleo, will officiate. The

David Rizzo, 76, of Los Angeles, Calif., passed away Wednesday (March 27, 2013),
in Los Angeles, Calif.

Rizzo, Mary Lou (nee Cosimano)
Mary Lou (nee Cosimano) Rizzo, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, business woman and
friend passed away in Williamsville, N.Y., on Dec. 26, 2011, at the age of 97.
Formerly of 155 Barker St., in Jamestown, she was born in Fredonia, and came to
Jamestown as a child.
She was educated in the Jamestown Public Schools and after finishing at Jamestown
High School she attended the Doyle School of Beauty in Buffalo. When she completed
her course of study she opened her own beauty shop in her home at 155 Barker St.,
and practiced there for over 50 years. Even after her retirement she continued to
practice from her home for some of her clients who remained her lifelong friends.
As a modern and independent woman, Mrs. Rizzo practiced yoga and continued it throughout
her life, and strongly believed in good nutrition and regular exercise. She was also
a lifelong parishioner and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society at St. James Roman
Catholic Church.
She was the beloved wife of the late Santo "Sandy" Rizzo; dearest mother of Anthony
(Kathleen) Rizzo; loving grandmother of Paige L. (Daniel) Mecca, Adam K. (Lynn Muscato)
Rizzo and Nathan T. (Jacqueline) Rizzo; great-grandmother of Nicholas, Zachary,
Alexander Mecca, Arnel, Giana and Anthony Rizzo; sister of the late Michael Cosimano
and Catherine Donato; and the loving companion of Basil Raffa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. at St.
James Roman Catholic Church in Jamestown N.Y. Friends are invited. Interment will
follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.

William H. "Bill" "Wagon Wheel" Roberts, 74, of Sheridan, died Wednesday, Aug. 15,
2012, at home with his family and friends present.
He was born May 26, 1938, in Jamestown, son of the late Howard and Alice Mae
(Wang) Roberts Jr.
A retired employee of Red Wig Corporation in Fredonia as a truck driver.
Life member of the National Rifle Association, Bill was an avid fisherman, and hunter
that had hunted in most of the 50 states, he also enjoyed to travel, spending time with
his grandchildren, gardening and watching the N.Y. Yankees.
Surviving are his children: Teresa (Michael) Borzilleri of Florida, Kenneth (Gena)
Caffoe and Julie (Dwight) Nicholson both of Arkansas, daughter-in-law Katie Roberts
of Sheridan; brother of Howard Roberts III of Cassadaga and Michael (Linda) Roberts
of Plesantgarden, N.C.; and grandchildren: Branden Caffoe, Alexis and Berkeley Roberts,
Andrew Borzilleri, Joshua and Jennifer Nicholson, expected grandson Jeffery Borzilleri,
former wife Judy Hall, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Many, many special friends,
including John Swanson, also survive.
Preceded in addition to his parents is a son Jeffery Roberts, and grandson Justin
Nicholson.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Bill's life will be held Sunday
afternoon, Sept. 23, at 3 p.m. at 3323 Route 20, Sheridan, N.Y.

Marion T. Robertson, 81, of 1048 Lakeview Ave., died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, in
her home.
She was the widow of Walter E. Robertson, whom she married Oct. 18, 1958, and who
died Sept. 7, 2000.
An area resident since 1967, Marion was born Jan. 31, 1931, in Woburn, Mass.,
the daughter of the late Charles and Leslie Hansen.
She had been employed in the Jamestown office of Alltel for 20 years, retiring
from the business office in 1993.
An avid golfer, Marion had been a member of Moon Brook Country Club for more than
40 years. She was also a member and past president of the Newcomers Club and belonged
to Holy Apostles Parish, Ss. Peter & Paul Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Paul) Silzle of Jamestown; son, Michael (Janet)
Robertson of San Angelo, Texas; four grandchildren: Hannah and Jenna Silzle of Jamestown,
Joshua Robertson of San Angelo, and Matthew Robertson of Denver, Colo.; and a
great-granddaughter, Gabriella Robertson of San Angelo.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers:
Robert and Leslie Hansen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Apostles
Parish, Ss. Peter & Paul Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende will be celebrant. Burial
will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Earl S. "Sonny" Robeson Jr., 80, of Russell, Pa., died Wednesday morning, Aug. 29,
2012, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 13, 1931, in Beccari, Clearfield County, Pa., to the late Earl S.
and Margaret Dobish Robeson, Sr.
He had served as a corporal with the U.S. Army providing combat duty in Korea. Earl
had lived in Cleveland, Ohio, for 10 years where he was employed at Baker Lift Truck
and then moved to Russell, Pa., and has resided there for the past 46 years. He was
employed as a machine operator at Carborundum/Monafax Company for 30 years, retiring
in 1996. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time with his family,
especially his grandchildren and his Golden Retriever, Jax.
He is remembered as a person who loved to tell a good story.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Debra J. Gibson Robeson, whom he married May 5,
1956, in Cleveland, Ohio; four children: Meg Robeson of Warren, Pa., Rick Robeson and
wife, Sutton, of Casper, Wyo., Scott Robeson and wife, Lesley, of Lander, Wyo., and
Derek Robeson of Russell, Pa.; four siblings: Marlene Pearce of Loraine, Ohio, Joanne
Stack and husband, Andy, of Cleveland, Ohio, Don Robeson and wife, Faye, and Kenneth
Robeson and wife, Donna, all of Russell, Pa.; four grandchildren: Tassie, Ashlee, Brynn
and Nicholas Robeson; two great-grandchildren: Nakita and Nicoli Robeson; and several
nieces and nephews.
A private family gathering will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Those

Rogerson, Ruth E.
Ruth E. Rogerson, 90, of 3100 West Oak Hill Road, died Friday, June 1, 2012, in her home.
A lifelong Jamestown resident, she was born May 17, 1922, a daughter of the late
Walter and Jessie Swallow Chiverton.
She was a 1940 graduate of Jamestown High School.
In earlier years she was employed by Marlin Rockwell Corporation, Dr. F. McCulla and
Lockwood's Department Store.
She was a member of Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ and trustee and volunteer
for the Fluvanna Free Library. She was very active in Girl Scouts and the PTA. She was
an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, baking and traveling, which included yearly trips
to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Forest and camping at Algonquin Park in northern Canada.
She was an extremely loving and kind person who lived her faith and thought of others
first. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Rogerson and Sally (Donald) Teater, both of
Jamestown, and a granddaughter, Christina (Ryan) Parks of Jamestown.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Alvin Rogerson,
whom she married Sept. 26, 1942, and who died Jan. 6, 2008; a sister Jean Gunnarson;
an infant brother Walter Chiverton; and a great-granddaughter Charlotte Elizabeth Parks.
A memorial service will be held at noon Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The
Rev. Dana Douglas will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Rothwell, Linda Lou Carlein
Linda Lou Carlein Rothwell, 65, of 116 Hotchkiss St., Jamestown, formerly of 4410 W.
Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, N.Y., where she lived for 60 years, passed away Saturday,
May 26, 2012, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born September 26, 1946, in Jamestown the daughter of the late Jabez "JB"
L. and Evelyn Propheter Carlein.
She was a 1964 graduate of Southwestern Central High School and worked at AVM,
later American Locker for 30 odd years retiring in 2005 when it moved to Grapevine,
Texas. Linda loved flowers, birds, and gardening up at the lake. Also, going to
garage sales with granddaughter Ashley and great grandson, Bruce Allen. She loved
her cats Lorna and Maxwell Smart Jr. She deeply loved her great grandson Bruce
Allen Smith and her granddaughter Ashley E. Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Bruce A. Rothwell in 2009;
her Mom and Dad; and many aunts and uncles.
Surviving are her daughter, Amy Hedlund and husband Matt; daughter, Janel Blake
and husband Ed; foster daughter, Brenda Sullivan; granddaughters Ashley, Branealyn,
Emilee, Sherry, Renee, Jennifer; grandsons, Patrick Seekings, Mike Blake, Trent, and
Drew; many great grandchildren; her aunt, Priscilla Jean Ford of Pittsburgh, Pa.;
her cousin, Corrynne Gerwitz of Olean; friend Debbie McKinsey; and her best friend
for over 50 years, GeorgiAnn "Jan" Pangborn.
Linda was a loving wife, grandmother, great grandmother, and foster mother.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday May 31, 2012, in the Lind Funeral

Harold E. Roush of 8610 East Main Street, Clymer, N.Y., was called home by his Lord,
on Saturday afternoon, August 18, 2012.
Harold was the son of the late Maurice S. and Clara E. Gothard Roush.
He was born July 16, 1928, in Panama, N.Y., and graduated from Panama Central
School in 1946. Harold was employed at Ohio Rubber and Norquist Products prior to
moving to Clymer following his marriage to Kathryn Groters Roush, who survives,
on October 19, 1948. After their marriage, Harold enjoyed life as a dairy farmer
from 1950 until retiring in 1993. They lived on their first farm, which was located
on Brownell Road, for 27 years, and continued farming on East Main Street in Clymer
after 1971. That farm earned the honor of being a Dairy of Distinction during the
1980s. After retiring, Harold and Kay enjoyed spending winters at their home in
St. Cloud, Florida for 12 years.
Always an example of a loving and humble Christian man to his children, Harold was
a member of Abbe Reformed Church for 63 years, having served as both deacon and
elder. He also served as a Dairymen's League committeeman, was on the Clymer Grievance
Board and served as a Holland Cemetery board member.
In addition to his wife Kay, others surviving Mr. Roush are his three daughters:
Sharon (Ben) Fergus, Sandra (Jeff) Allen, both of Virginia, and Suzanne (Tom) Wolters
of Michigan; three granddaughters: Kelly (Matthew) Jackson of Illinois, Kristen (Mark)
Van Stee of Michigan, and Katlyn Allen of Virginia; two great-granddaughters: Abigail
Jackson and Aleigha Van Stee; one sister, Eleanor Tyler of Ohio; two sisters-in-law:
Emogene Newhouse of Rochester and Jane Roush of California; one brother-in-law,
Kenneth Belconis of Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, George E. Roush; his sister, Betty Jane
Belconis; and his parents-in-law, Walter and Coral Groters.
Friends and family will be received at Spitzer Funeral Home on Tuesday, August
21, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at the Abbe Reformed Church at 595 Clymer Sherman Road,
Clymer, N.Y., at 11 a.m. Wednesday August 22, officiated by the Rev. David
Waldo of the Greenfield Baptist Church. Interment will be at the Holland Cemetery
in Clymer.
Memorials may be given to the Abbe Reformed Church or the Clymer Fire Department.
Rowe, Joseph Robert
Joseph Robert Rowe, 70, of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away suddenly on May 25, 2012.
He was the son of Sadie (Santa Maria LoPresto) Rowe, Joseph Chimera and Jack Scott Rowe.
Joe graduated from Jamestown High School in 1959, where he was a member of the Braw
Caddie Clan. He played the drums professionally from the age of 16, and befriended
jazz musicians such as Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich.
After graduating from Tri-State University in Indiana, he served in the U.S. Army
in Korea. He was an enthusiastic member of sales teams at Herbert Shoes, Carnahan's,
McFadden Ford, and Lake County Dodge.
He and his family were grateful for the support that they received from this
community when he recovered from a near fatal illness in 1998.
He is survived by his son, Joel Robert-Scott Rowe of Manhattan, N.Y.; his former
wife, Karen (Brown) Rowe; several cousins; and many loving friends.
A memorial service for Joe will be held at the 511 East Second St., AA Club, where
Joe was supported in his sobriety for 42 years and supported many others in theirs,
at 4 p.m. on June 9, 2012.
All are welcome and any donations will fund an Alateen or AA scholarship.
Rowley, Olita M.
October 15, 2011, FREWSBURG - Olita M. Rowley, 86, of 68 Institute St., died Friday (
Oct. 14, 2011), at WCA Hospital.
She was born Feb. 11, 1925 in Frewsburg, the daughter of Clyde and Edith Hamilton Sisson.
She had attended Frewsburg Central School, had been a cook for the Lutheran Home, and
later was employed at Vac Air in Frewsburg.
Olita is survived by eight children: Edith (Richard) Moore, Herbert (Sue) Row-ley,
Emma (Bryon) McCreary, all of Frewsburg, Harold "Butch" (Ruth) Rowley of Kennedy,
Evelyn (Al) Suchar of Jamestown, Elaine (David) Stephan of Olean, Ellen (David) Howard
of Owego, and Hal Rowley of Frewsburg, 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and
two sisters: Mavis Covey of Greenhurst, and Lois Freeman of Frewsburg.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Rowley, whom she married March 14, 1942;
two sons: Howard and Henry Rowley; a daughter, Elma Remington; a grandson, Michael
McCreary; a sister, Joyce Price; and three brothers: Frank, Don and Maurice Sisson.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg.
The Rev. Alan Anderson, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will
be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

Rublee, LeRoy Homer
October 14, 2011, LeRoy Homer Rublee died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at Hospice House
Satilla, following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 19, 1946, in Cherry Creek, N.Y., the son of the late Homer
and Wilmah (Williamson) Rublee.
He is survived by three daughters: Sylvia (Cliff) Reid of Seward, Alaska,
Juanita Rublee and Crystal Rublee, both of Jamestown, N.Y.; two grandchildren:
Chelsea Reid of Kenai, Alaska, and Dustin Cole (Shayla) Reid of Seward, Alaska;
three great-grandchildren: Ethan, Zackery and Lorrie, all of Alaska; one brother;
eight sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by Barbara J. Duvall of Waycross, Ga., with whom he made
his home for many years and her children: Tricia Duvall and Amanda Ford and her
children; TyShawn, Jazzy and Jaden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Wilmah Rublee; and his
daughter, Sonya Lea Rublee.

Ruper, Harold C.
Harold C. Ruper, 83, of Route 242, Little Valley, passed away at 9:43 a.m.
Tuesday (Nov. 22, 2011), in the Bradford Manor, Bradford, Pa.
He was born May 6, 1928, in Otto, N.Y,, the son of the late Lester Carl and
Ruth Johnston Ruper.
He was a graduate of Little Valley High School and the Massachusetts State
Teachers College. He retired from the former Lundgren Chevrolet in Randolph,
and having grown up in the car business, he was a mechanic for his father at
Lester Ruper Pontiac in Little Valley, and had owned and operated Ruper's Garage
in Napoli for many years.
Harold was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a corporal from July 11, 1946,
to Nov. 5, 1947, in Japan, where he received the World War II Victory Medal and
the Japanese Army of Occupation Medallion.
He was a former assessor for the town of Napoli for 10 years, a member of the St.
Michael's Lutheran Church in Little Valley, Little Valley American Legion Post 531,
Randolph Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 6533 and had served as a past president for
the Little Valley Lions Club and Little Valley Rotary. He was also a member of the
Chautauqua County Lost Cord Club.
He is survived by his wife, Lena M. Ekelund, whom he married Dec. 14, 1948, in Little
Valley; three sons: Brian Ruper and Lars Ruper of Steamburg, and Paul Ruper of Little
Valley; a daughter, Karen Burr and her husband, Mark of Gowanda; a brother, James Ruper
and his wife, Carolyn of Napoli; 10 grandchildren: Matt Burch, Nicole Ruper, Christopher
Ruper, Abraham Ruper, Crystal Ruper, Karen Sue Ruper, Nickolas Burr, Andrew Burr, Stephen
Burr and Kelli Burr; four great-grandchildren; and two very close friends of Harold's,
Courteney and Joshua Halterman.
He was preceded in death by his a son; Michael Ruper in 1956; two stepmothers; Cecelia and
Hilda Ruper; and a sister, Barbara Tomerlin in 2010.
Visitation will not be observed. A memorial will be held in the spring of 2012 with a time
and place to be announced. Burial will be in the Little Valley Rural Cemetery.

GERRY - Gerald "Jerry" Rushik, 91, of Heritage Village, formerly of Roslyn, Pa., died
Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Heritage Village Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
He was born April 26, 1921, in Luzerne, Pa., the son of the late Stanley and Bina
Button Rushik.
He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army Air Forces.
Jerry was employed as a sheet metal worker/mechanic at Twichell's Inc. of Roslyn,
Pa., for more than 25 years retiring in 1985.
He and his wife moved to Heritage Village in 1990. Jerry was a member of the Gerry
Free Methodist Church.
Husband of 65 years to Grace Laning Rushik, whom he married Sept. 27, 1946; father
of the Rev. William (Dawn) Rushik of South Canaan, Pa., Pearl (Richard) Neil of Branson,
Mo., Thomas (Holly) Rushik of Warminster, Pa., and the late Shirley Rushik; grandfather
of six; great-grandfather of seven; brother of Gladys Hosier, Enid McCready and preceded
in death by three sisters and three brothers.
A memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Seeley Chapel of Schwab Manor,

Russ, Josephine M.
Josephine M. Russ, 83, of Panama, passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, while at home.
Josephine was born on March 13, 1928, in Portage, Pa., the daughter of Frank Sr. and
Catherine Rose (Starchville) Zock, and had 12 siblings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Frank Jr., Chester and Leo Zock;
sisters Blanche Zock and Agnes Tomasko; and her husband, Ed Russ of Panama.
Surviving are her three sons: Gary of West Palm Beach, Fla., Richard of Panama, N.Y.,
and James of Columbus, Ohio; and nine grandchildren, along with one great-grandchild
and another on the way. Josephine is also survived by sisters: Anna Zock, Clifton, N.J.,
Kathryn Mackoviak, Esther Sabala, Regina Gillin, Delores Rorabaugh, all of Portage,
and Irene Lidwell, Ashville; and a brother, Stanley Zock of Portage.
Josephine loved to read, cook and take care of her family. Josephine traveled with
her husband Ed, and cooked for the Jamestown Old Timers' Baseball Club for more
than 25 years.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan 7, 2012, at Our Lady of
the Snows Catholic Church in Panama, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, the family will be accepting donations to be distributed to
various local charities.
Russell, Caryl Carlson
Caryl Carlson Russell, 87, died peacefully at her San Clemente home Sunday, June 17,
2012, surrounded by family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents, G. Avert and Frances Wright Carlson; her
husband, Harold (Bud) Russell; and brothers Bruce and Warren Carlson.
She is survived by her six children: Timothy, Michael, Gregory, Patrick, Kent, Cynthia
and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Caryl was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Jamestown, New York. Soon after graduation from the
former Celoron High School, Class of 1942, she married Harold (Bud), her Jamestown
sweetheart. While he served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II,
Caryl, with her baby son, Tim, her parents and her two brothers, moved from Jamestown
to California. After Bud's return, their other children were born and the family lived
in Tempe, Ariz., and in Fontana, Rialto, Carona, Santa Barbara, San Clemente, Calif.,
as Bud advanced professionally to retire as a VP of Culligan Inc. Caryl was always a
devoted, loving wife, mother and grandmother.
The Russells especially enjoyed the ocean and in later years, Caryl and Bud looked
forward to their early morning walks at the San Clemente pier. Caryl also took great
pride in the variety of flowers in her beautiful garden.
A private service for family and close friends will be held July 1 with dispersal of
Caryl and Harold ashes at sea.

of San Clemente Beaches, Parks and Recreation Foundation.
Ryno, Cressid A.
Cressid A. Ryno, 46, of 59 Broadhead Ave., died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, in WCA
Hospital.
She was born in Jamestown on Mar. 18, 1965, and had most recently been employed
by The Resource Center.
Surviving is her husband, Jerry Ryno; four children, David, Raymond and Cynthia
Gray, all of Jamestown, and April Gray of Georgia; her mother, Barbara (Ray) Finch
of Jamestown and father, David McClaren of Sinclairville; a sister, Cynthia Davis
and three brothers: Donald Barr, Ronald Barr and Raymond Finch III.
A celebration of Cressid's life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5,
at the home of Barbara and Ray Finch, 263 Fairmount Ave., Jamestown.
