Walczyk, Edward S. ‘‘Slim”
Edward S. ''Slim" Walczyk of Ashville, N.Y., passed away Oct.
31, 2011, at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Erie, Pa. Edward was
surrounded by his family. Edward is the son of the late Walter
E. Walczyk Sr. and Stella Hejna Walczyk. Edward is survived by
his loving wife, Irene (Reni) Hunter Walczyk. Edward is also
survived by his four sons: Edward W. Walczyk and his wife,
Jennifer, Daniel H. Walczyk and his wife, Shannon and their
children: Goose and Paige, Luke A. Walczyk, Matthew R. Walczyk
and his fiance, Nicole Osborne and their children: Andrew and
Alaiyna.
Edward was a lifelong farmer, avid outdoors man, woodworker, auto mechanic,
over the road trucker, and member of the Chautauqua County Snowmobilers
Association. Edward found great joy in sharing the use of his farm land
with others who love and respect it as much as he did.
Edward is preceded in death by his old dog, Andy-Boy.
There will be no visitation or funeral services, however there will be a
Mass celebrating his life held at Saint Aloysius Roman Catholic Church,
Springville, N.Y., Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at 10 a.m. Following Mass
there will be an open reception at the Springville fire hall on Route
39 in Springville.
Flowers are gratefully declined, but donations may be made in Edward's
name to the Chautauqua County Snowmobilers Association.
Walter, Alberta L.
Alberta L. Walter, 77, of Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing, formerly
of Page Road, Frewsburg, died Tuesday (May 29, 2012), at Heritage Village.
She was born Feb. 17, 1935, in Jamestown, the daughter of Gus and Edna Campbell
Lindahl.
She had been employed at WCA Hospital as a nursing assistant and had worked locally
in home health care.
She attended the Frewsburg Alliance Church, enjoyed traveling, reading, music, and
caring for the elderly.
Alberta is survived by two daughters: Diane Thompson of Kennedy, and Shirley Walter
of Germany; a son, Fordyce Walter Jr. of Jamestown; six grandchildren: Daniel, James,
and Paige Walter and Matthew Ostrander, all of Frewsburg, Chris Agnoli of Jamestown,
and Aaron Agnoli of Georgia; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Bruce Lindahl of
Jamestown; and two sisters: Betty Barber and Norma Walker of Jamestown.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Fordyce Walter, who died on
Nov. 23, 2004; and two brothers: Carl M. Lindahl and Gus E. Lindahl Jr.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. The
Rev. Mark Adams, pastor of the Frewsburg Alliance Church, will officiate. Burial will
be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
Friday and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.

Walter, Mary Lou
Mary Lou Walter, a resident of Ashville, N.Y., died in her home surrounded by her
loving family on Saturday, June 2, 2012.
She was born on April 6, 1933, in Warren, Pa., the daughter of the late Jay and
Naomi (Hickey) Goodwill.
She was the wife of Donald E. Walter, whom she married Nov. 24, 1952, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children: a son, David (Jaunita)
A. Walter, of Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter, Susan K. Buzzet-to of Jamestown, N.Y.,
a daughter, Cynthia (John) Walter Warner of Ashville, N.Y, and a son, Douglas (Nicole)
E. Walter of Portland, N.Y.; a son-in-law, Martin McQuillan Sr. of Warren, Pa.; and a
sister, Dorothy Lauffenburger of Youngsville, Pa.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her eldest daughter,
Lynette E. McQuillan, who died March 19, 2001; seven brothers and sisters: Marion
Abraham, Albert Goodwill, Ethel Peterson, Genevieve Lincoln, Patricia Shields, Robert
Goodwill and Irene Reinhold.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Marty McQuillan Jr., Michael McQuillan, John
McQuillan, Scott Walter, Lauren Walter, Sara Buzzetto, Ryan Buzzetto, Jack Warner, Caitlin
Warner, Jeffrey Warner, Devin Walter and Derek Walter; and one great-granddaughter,
Madeleine McQuillan; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou was a compassionate woman whose warm and loving spirit will be missed by all
who knew her. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Mary Lou was the
epitome of selflessness and kindness. She could always be found in the kitchen baking
cinnamon rolls or on the spectator bench supporting and cheering on her twelve grandchildren.
Most of all she will be missed by Don, her devoted husband, companion and friend of 59
years who held her hand through nine years of battling Alzheimer's.
Friends are invited to call on Friday, June 8, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at
McKinney Funeral Home, 54 West Main St., Youngsville, Pa. At the last half hour of each
viewing, a short video on Mary Lou's life and living with Alzheimer's Disease will be
shown. A vigil prayer service and eulogy will begin at 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at St. Luke Romans Catholic Church
in Youngsville at 10:30 a.m.
A graveside service will follow immediately at Youngsville Cemetery.

Walton, Penny L.
Mrs. Penny L. Walton, age 60, of Bowen Street, Jamestown, died early Sunday morning
at WCA Hospital following a long illness.
Born January 19, 1952, in Salamanca, New York, she was the daughter of the late
Theodore and Freda Fluent Bish.
Mrs. Walton was married January 31, 1987, to John T. Walton, who survives.
Mrs. Walton was employed as an activities director for over 20 years in the nursing
home field and was employed with the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Delmar, N.Y. She
had previously been employed as a certified nursing aide at the former Salamanca District
Hospital and the Salamanca Nursing Home.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and quilting, as well as video-conferencing with her
grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time gambling with her sisters.
Surviving besides her husband are: one daughter, Denise (David) Dickinson of Colorado;
two sons: Thomas Manning and Mark Manning, both of North Carolina; six sisters: Pamela
(Stuart) Bryant of Florida, Christina (Jerry) Roberson, Salamanca, NY, Theodora Bish,
Forestville, N.Y., Aleta (Richard) Dulanski, Salamanca, N.Y., Terry (Richard) Crary,
Hastings, N.Y., and Gwendolyn Thurston, Salamanca, N.Y.; her aunt, Eunice Bish,
Youngsville, Pa.; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Rowena Grey, a brother, Thomas Bish, and a sister,
Faye Bish Budzinski.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral services are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc Funeral Home,
25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Warner, Diane M.
Diane Marie Warner, 66, of 312 Willard St., Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly on
Sunday (Jan. 8, 2012), in the UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa.
A lifelong area resident, she was born Oct. 17, 1945, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter
of the late Ellis C. and Margaret M. Reeder Warner Sr.
Diane was a 1963 graduate of Jamestown High School and also graduated from Jamestown
Community College.
Before her retirement, she was employed by the James Prendergast Free Library in
Jamestown for 40 years. Many of those years were spent in the children's room reading
to her beloved children.
She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church,
and was also active with the Chautauqua County Humane Society.
She will be remembered as a loving, caring and generous person who may have been
small in stature but had the heart of a giant. She also loved children and had a special
place in her heart for animals. She took in many stray cats over the years and had
a name for them all.
Surviving are her brother, Ellis C. Warner Jr. of Jamestown; a cousin, Laurel Lockhart
of New York City; her best friend, Kay E. Burch and longtime family friend, Louise
Denka, both of Jamestown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012,
in Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende,
pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. today in the Lind Funeral Home where a
Christian Wake Service will be led at 2:45 p.m. today.

Waterman, Joan
Joan E. Waterman, 85, of Cassadaga, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday,
March 14, 2015.
Born Jan. 25, 1930 in Brocton. Daughter of the late Lloyd and Itha Peck Navey
and 1947 graduate of Brocton Central School.
In earlier years, Joan was a purchasing agent for A.J. Wahl and a part-time secretary at ECC.
She was a full-time wife, mother and homemaker.
A member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, she had also served as organist for various
churches throughout Chautauqua and Erie counties. Joan enjoyed singing and photography, which led to her being
called "Grandma Cheese."
Devoted wife of 59 years to Kenneth M. Waterman, whom she married May 12, 1956; mother of Douglas (
Diane) Waterman of Antioch, TN, and Tricia (Daniel) VeRost of Wheatfield; grandmother of Jesse (Heather),
Micah (Brittany) and Joseph Waterman, Tiffani (Keith) Stoklosa, Brittani Szczublewski and Tyler VeRost;
great-grandmother of five; sister of Janice Fowler and the late Ramona Swetland. Also survived by nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18 in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville, with one hour of
visitation prior to the service. Burial in Cassadaga Cemetery.

Waterman, Russell "Russ" J. Jr.
Russell "Russ" J. Waterman, Jr., died March 13, 2014 at his home in Stow, New York surrounded
by his family. Russ was born February 20, 1954 in Jamestown, New York to Russell J. Waterman,
Sr. and Mariana (Lewis) Waterman. He graduated from Panama Central
School in 1972 with the love of his life and wife of 40 years, Sheryl
(Reed) Waterman.
Russ worked at the Salvation Army as a maintenance supervisor for the
past five years. He worked at Sysco Foods for 20 years prior.
His hobbies included running, playing guitar, fishing,
spending time with his grandchildren and lovingly maintaining his and
his daughters' homes. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic
Church in Lakewood where he served as Eucharistic Minister for 25 years,
and he was a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.
His family wrote, "He was the hardest worker anyone ever knew and his
greatest efforts were put toward taking care of his four girls.
He is survived by his wife Sheryl (Reed) Waterman,
three daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal (Scott) Duda, Candace (Joshua)
Brown, Tara (Sergio) Hernandez, six grandchildren Cade Russell Duda,
Landon Everett Duda, Alex David Brown, Alyssa Louise Brown, Kaitlyn
Elizabeth Brown, with one more on the way. He is also survived by 6
sisters and 2 brothers: Lois (Dennis) Kibler of Jamestown; Louise
(Ralph) Long of Syracuse; Larry (Karen) Waterman of Sebastian, Florida;
Joanne (Darrell) James of Ashville; Laura (Dwight) Smith of Rocky Mount,
North Carolina; David (Toni) Waterman of Palm Bay, Florida; Loretta
(Scott) Waterman Bremer of Jamestown; Elizabeth (Richard) Hall of
Apopka, Florida.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister,
Jayne Lynn on May 11, 1961 and a brother, Ralph Waterman on October
15, 2013.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at
Holy Apostles Parish Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 508 Cherry St
Jamestown. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell will be celebrant.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Lind
Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led by Rev. John
Kuhlmann at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Leatrice J. "Granny" Weeks-Weaver, 75, of Brandon, Fla., went to be with the Lord on
Friday, Aug. 24, 2012.
A native of Jamestown, N.Y., she was a manager at the Brandon Dairy Queen for years
and worked at Carl's Meat Market and CJ's Cafe at Progressive Insurance for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Dorothy Bidwell; brother, Paul
Bidwell Jr.; and her loving husband of 14 years, Paul Weaver.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Starleen Banks (Robert); sister, Gail Amos;
stepdaughter, Michelle King; stepson, Greg Weaver; 11 grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; and many cousins and close friends as well.
Family services will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Florida
National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla., with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday
at Bay Life Church, 1017 Kingsway Road, Brandon, Fla., to celebrate her life with a
reception to follow for everyone at the church.

Welch, Betty J. Decker
Betty J. Decker Welch, 75, of Catlin Hill Road, Sugar Grove, went to meet her loved
ones on Friday, May 18, 2012, at her residence.
A lifelong resident of Sugar Grove, she was born Nov. 24, 1936, in Luxor, Pa., to the
late John and Rose (Thompson) Garris. Betty was employed at West Penn Oil for over
20 years. She loved to fish, hunt and do crosswords and enjoyed her family the most.
She is survived by six children: Brenda Decker Culbertson of Sugar Grove, Charles
(Betty) Decker of Jamestown, N.Y., David (Martha) Decker of Sugar Grove, Tammy (Robert)
Goodwill of Panama, N.Y., Ronald Decker of Sugar Grove and Walter W. (Cindy) Decker of
Indiana; 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, her siblings Richard Garris
of North Carolina, Charles Larry James of Greensburg, Pa., John Garris of Mount Pleasant,
Nellie Velkey and Saundra (Gerald) Marol of Latrobe, Pa., Rose Lynn (Bruce) Personett
of Illinois and Naomi Jean (Ralph) Stewart of Sugar Grove.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Decker, sons Arnold Lee and Robert J.W
Decker, and the following siblings: Ruth (Oliver) Kunkle, Patricia (Elmer) Mooney, Ella
Mae (James) Angelo, George Garris and Roger Garris.
Family and friends will be received at the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
314 N. Main St., Youngsville, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held
there on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Annette Gerber, pastor of the Evangelical
United Methodist Church of Youngsville, officiating. Burial will be in the Westmoreland
Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mary M. Welch, 91, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, formerly of 8 Crane St., Jamestown, died
Saturday August 18, 2012, in Ohio.
A Jamestown, native, she was born August 11, 1921, a daughter of the late Salvatore
and Julia Maisto Dicembre.
Prior to her retirement she was employed by Jamestown Stamp Company for 30 years
and later worked for the Foster Grandparents at Bush Elementary School for 10 years.
She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish, St. John Catholic Church.
Surviving are two daughters: Cynthia (Albert) Albatrosov of Kilauea, Hawaii, and
Linda (Keith) Miller of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; six grandchildren: Stephen Ferjanec
and Matthew Miller, both of Cuyahoga Falls, Michael Albatrosov of Jacksonville, Fla.,
Andrew (Jessie) Albatrosov and Natasha Albatrosov of Port Orange, Fla., and Julia
Albatrosov of Kilauea, Hawaii; four great-grandchildren: Shawn, Noah and Micha Albatrosov,
all of Port Orange, Fla., and Marjorie Albatrosov-Fuquay of Kilauea, Hawaii, and
several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Welch, whom
she married November 24, 1945, and who died December 15, 1970, three brothers: Marion,
Angelo and Frank Dicembre and three sisters: Rose Teresi, Stella Gaeta and Nellie Tumminia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Apostles

Welch, Timothy E. Sr.
CASSADAGA - Timothy E. Welch Sr., 38, of Cassadaga, died Tuesday,
Nov. 1, 2011, the result of an automobile accident.
He was April 11, 1973, in Methuen, Mass., the son of Gary (Roberta)
Welch of Dunkirk, and Deborah (Jerry) Premus Staufenberger of Angola.
He was employed as a line operator for Fieldbrook Foods for over
20 years.
Tim enjoyed music and playing bass guitar in his band,
"Pressure Sensitive".
Husband of 16 years to Tammy Keech Welch, whom he married July
9, 1995; father of Timothy Jr., Joshua and Emily Welch, all of Cassadaga;
brother of Gary (Lisa) Welch and Richard Welch, all of Jamestown, and David
(Brandy) Welch of Falconer. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville.
Visitation two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Cassadaga Cemetery.
Wengerd, Dan N.E.
LEON - Dan N.E. Wengerd, 2, of 6988 West Road, town of Leon, passed away Saturday
(November 5, 2011) in the town of Leon as the result of a vehicle and Amish
buggy collision.
He was born May 3, 2009, in Dunkirk, the son of Noah E. and Edna A.
Miller Wengerd.
The family will be received in their home today from 1 p.m. until dusk.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the family home.

Wendt, Edmund R.
Edmund R. Wendt, age 92, of Sanborn, died Saturday June 23, 2012, in Mt St. Mary's
Hospital in Lewiston, after a brief illness.
Ed was born December 12, 1919, in Sanborn, N.Y., the son of the late Edward and
Lena (Strassburg) Wendt and was a lifelong resident. He married Jane M. McCollum on
October 2, 1948. Jane predeceased him on April 10th of this year. Ed was a self employed
mechanic. He had worked as an operating engineer on the Power Project and as a bus
mechanic for Niagara Wheatfield Schools.
He had attended the Ransomville United Methodist Church. Ed enjoyed building and
collecting model toys, NASCAR and attending steam engine shows. He also has a
collection of antique cars and tractors.
He is survived by his children, Paul (Robin) Wendt of Lockport, Dan (Shelley) Wendt
of Jamestown, N.Y., and Marleen (Conrad) Janik of Lockport; his grandchildren,
Cori Flores, Raymond and Andrew Wendt, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Gruber, Edward Wendt,
Conrad Jr. and Christopher Janik, and Liza Reinhardt; and three great grandchildren:
Joseph Flores, Emily Wendt and Amanda Clarkson.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Alfred and Norman Wendt.

Tuesday, June 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 27, from 10 to 11 a.m. at

Werner, William H. Jr.
William H. Werner Jr., who was born Aug. 28, 1944, left this earth on Dec. 20, 2011.
He was born in Oswego, N.Y., and raised in Jamestown, N.Y.
Bill, or "Pops" as many knew him, retired from Symons as a regional sales manager,
and spent almost 20 years in retirement enjoying time with family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Margaret; his sisters:
Virginia Werner Zimmer and Ann Christine Werner, brother-in-law Russell Zimmer; and
nephew, Matthew Zimmer.
Bill leaves behind two sons: Todd (Teresa) and Cory (Brooke), Austin, Texas; his
beautiful granddaughter, Ava Werner; his sister, Peggy Werner (Tony) Cosimano, Warwick,
N.Y., and numerous nephews and nieces.
Pops loved many things including cruising the lake on a sunny Texas afternoon in his
boat, driving with his elbow hanging off the doorsill of a convertible, having fun with
his family and friends, and getting to see little Ava grow up. He will be missed very
much, but he is in a better place.
The family would like to thank the Heartland nursing staff and especially the Clairmont
staff, where he spent the majority of his happy years in Austin in a vibrant retirement
community.

West, James L.
James L. West, 83, of 154 Eighth St., Greenhurst Village, Box 2, died at 11:42 p.m.,
Tuesday, (May 29, 2012) in the Lutheran Home and Rehab Center. He was born Sept. 29,
1928, in Oil City, Pa., a son of William G. and Della L. Redmond West.
A graduate of the former Bemus Point High School, Mr. West went on to earn a Bachelor
of Science degree in business administration at SUNY at Buffalo. During his career,
he served as the manager of several Social Security offices including Dunkirk, and
retired as manager of the Jamestown office. He was awarded the Commissioner's Citation
for Excellence by the Department of Health, Education and Welfare.
Jim had fond memories of his youth and activities at the former West's Restaurant,
which was owned by his parents. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and writing, especially
articles which were often published in The Post-Journal readers forum. He enjoyed
eating out and was know for his firm handshakes and the hats he wore.
Memberships included St. Timothy Lutheran Church, War Vets Recreation Club and Lakewood
Rod and Gun Club. He was a past president of the Point Chautauqua Golf and Beach Club
and a former member of the Sylvan Lodge 303 F&AM.

17, 1954; two sons: Dale R. (Debbie) West, Bemus Point, and Thomas W. (Leslie) West,
Lakewood, N.Y.; a daughter, Dianne Sloan, Bemus Point; six grandchildren: Kyle, Kayce,
Allison and Taylor West, Katie Castro and Andrew Sloan; a great-granddaughter, Lucy
Castro; and a sister, Lois Hull, Coco Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a son, John D. West on March 24, 1999; and two brothers:
Eugene and Robert West.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (June 1, 2012) in St. Timothy Lutheran
Church, Bemus Point, where the Rev. Jordan Miller-Stubbendick, will officiate. Friends

Whippo, Bernice
Bernice E. Whippo, 87, a resident of the Corry Manor, Corry, Pa., died there Monday
morning, June 25, 2012, after a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 31, 1924, in Youngsville, Pa., to the late Guy and Edna Hedstrand
McIntyre.
She has resided most of her life in Corry. She was a 1942 graduate of Youngsville
High School. Bernice was employed with the former Raymonds and now known as Corry
Federal Credit Union as a teller and loan officer, retiring after 28 years service.
She was a member of the Corry Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Clair M. Whippo, whom she married June 22,
1974, in Corry, Pa.; eight children: David Whippo and wife, Karen of Erie, Pa.; Caroll
Humphrey and husband, Tom of Glasgow, Kentucky; Marjorie White and husband, Homer
of Albany, N.Y.; Paula Trisket and husband, John of Corry, Pa.; Candace Frontera and
husband, John of Union City, Pa.; Alana Holenbeck and companion, Jim Holcomb of
Warren, Pa.; Robin Williams and husband, Mike of Corry, Pa.; Teena Chiricuzio and
companion, John of Sunset Bay, N.Y.; one sister, Delores Wheatley of Monroe, Wash.;
many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank
Chiricuzio; a son, William Chiricuzio; two brothers: Duane and John McIntyre; and
grandson, Todd Harvey.

White, Dori Sipe
Dori Sipe White, 53, a longtime Little Valley, N.Y. resident, died at the Buffalo
General Hospital, on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, after suffering a ruptured brain
aneurysm. She passed away peacefully with family by her side.
Dori was born Oct., 25, 1958, to Earl Leroy Sipe and Kay Sipe in Salamanca, N.Y. She
grew up and graduated from Little Valley Central High School in Little Valley, N.Y.,
in 1976.
She went on to work as a travel agent in Niagara Falls, N.Y., then moved to Salamanca,
N.Y., where she reconnected with her high-school sweetheart, Jon and moved back to their
hometown of Little Valley. They were married on May 13, 1995.
Dori worked at Luminite Products in Salamanca, N.Y., Community Action in Salamanca,
N.Y., and at the Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School for the past 15 years as
confidential secretary for the superintendent.
Dori will always be remembered for her love of family and the ability to organize
anything that needed to be done. She was the caretaker of everyone around her
and was the first one to help anyone in need.
She loved the outdoors, the water, and enjoyed many vacations paddling canoes and
kayaks with her family and friends.
Dori loved camping, singing by the campfire, her garden fairies, playing her guitar
and just enjoying life to its fullest. She was also an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
Her newest love was their new grandbaby, Teagan.
Dori was known as a kind and friendly person with many friends and acquaintances. Her
laugh was contagious and she had a wonderful outgoing personality that drew people in
around her. She will be greatly missed by many.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 17 years, Jon White; her wonderful son, Ian
White of Little Valley, N.Y., mother Kay Sipe of Little Valley; stepdaughters: Jennifer
(Tom) Heidrick of Cattaraugus, and Kristen (Ryan) Siperek of Springville, N.Y.; sisters:
Rhonda Blakesslee of Salamanca, N.Y., and Heidi (Dave) McCausland of Mt. Vernon, Maine;
nieces: Jenny Blakesslee of Salamanca, N.Y. and Lauren Boftaph of Eden, N.Y.; nephews:
Billy White of Eden, N.Y., and Zach White of Pittsburgh, Pa. Her father, Earl Sipe
of Little Valley, N.Y., preceded her in death.

Whitehead, John L.
SHERMAN - John L. "The Flying Farmer," Whitehead, 82, of Park St., Sherman,
died Sunday (Oct. 30, 2011), in St. Vincent's Hospital in Erie, Pa.
He was born Aug. 9, 1929 in Charlotte, N.C., the son of the late John C. and
Rowena Smith Whitehead.
He was a graduate of Chautauqua Central School in 1947, and was a veteran
of the US Army as a tank leader.
John was a dairy farmer, construction worker, an over the road truck driver,
drove school bus for Sherman Central School, and drove snow plows for the
New York State Highway Department until he was 75 years old.
A big part of his life was dirt track racing for 37 years on 26 different
tracks winning many features and championships. He enjoyed going to and watching
NASCAR racing, golf, bowling, and gardening
John was a life member of Lake Chautauqua Memorial Post 8647 VFW in Mayville,
and was a member of the William L. Travis American Legion Post #493 in Mayville.
He is survived by his companion and caretaker Doris Ohlsson of many years with
whom he made his home; five children, Jeannine (Bob) Hopkins of Magnolia,
Texas, Debora (Arthur) Edens of Charleston, W.Va., Boyd (Rhonda) Whitehead of
Sherman, Lesa Sanders of Mayville, and Carla (Brian) Couse of Sherman; 10 grandchildren,
Nicole and Jonathan Hopkins, Crystal Surdyk, Holly Snyder, Gina and Justin Whitehead,
Jake Sanders, Michael and Sarah Parker, and Nicholas Couse; four great-grandchildren,
Eric and Maximus Surdyk, Lilly and Charles Snyder.
He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Charlotte J. Boyd Whitehead.

Whitford, Warren D.
Warren D. Whitford, 72, of 35 E. Terrace Ave., Lakewood, passed away Friday,
March 29, 2013, in Roswell Park Cancer Institute surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 16, 1941, in Jamestown, the son of the late Leland and
Ruth Cowles Whitford.
Warren graduated from Jamestown Business College, and attended the Fluvanna
Community Church.
Prior to retirement in 2007, he had been employed at Erie Insurance. Earlier
Warren worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield, MRC/SKF Bearings and Dresser Rand.
He enjoyed flying, sailing, rowing and working with Habitat for Humanity. He
was a member of the Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association, Aero Soaring Club,
Brokenstraw Soaring Club and Jamestown Civil Air Patrol. An accomplished
musician, Warren played saxophone with the Stu Snyder Big Band, Harold Olson
Big Band, Germaine and Pappalardo Swing Band, Chautauqua Big Band, and
the Jamestown Municipal Band.
Surviving are his companion of 15 years, Jackie Thies; two daughters:
Karen Whitford of Bemus Point, N.Y.; and Susan (Mike) Brunner of East Aurora,
N.Y.; four grandchildren: April Jackson of Harrisonburg, Va.; Alexandra,
Andrew, and Hans Brunner, all of East Aurora. Also surviving is Sandra Whitford
of Blockville, N.Y.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Fluvanna Community
Church. The Rev. Richard D. Keefer will officiate.
Burial will be in Open Meadows Cemetery. The family will receive friends

Whittemore, Robert Lewis
October 18, 2011, Robert Lewis Whittemore, 84, of Warren, Pa.,
passed away on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at his residence after
an extended illness.
Mr. Whittemore was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Kinzua, the son of the
late Lewis and Minnie Rice Whittemore.
Robert served in the U.S. Army as an intercept radio operator
during World War II, and also as a rifle and M2 sharpshooter.
He later worked as a welder for five years at Struthers Wells,
then 40 years as a welder at Betts Industries from which he
retired.
Robert's second love was aviation, buying his first aircraft in 1976.
He was a member of the Warren Aviation Club.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen A. Whittemore of Warren, whom he married
May 6,1972; three daughters: Floris Grove and her husband, Tom O'Steen of
California, Andrea Beane and her husband, Frank of Florida, and Robin Ann
Taydus and her hus-band, Dave, of Garland, Pa; a nephew, Alvin Stevenson,
of Georgia; six grandchildren: John Wolfe, Sherrie Wolfe, Jennifer Olson,
Natalie Lucks, Matthew Taydus and Robert Beane; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lucretia
Quiggle; a half-sister, Lulu Scott; and first wife, Floris Schell.
A memorial service will be held at the North Warren Presbyterian Church, 200
S. State St., N. Warren, PA 16365, on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m., with the
Rev. Burfoot S. Ward III, pastor, North Warren Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Wickmark, Lucile J.
Lucile J. Wickmark, 77, of 8065 Oaks Road, South Dayton, passed away Monday (Jan.
16, 2012), in her home.
A lifelong area resident, she was born Feb. 19, 1934, in Steamburg, the daughter
of the late Benjamin and Margery Ross Harrington.
She had attended Randolph schools, and in earlier years had worked for the Union
National for 22 years and later for Atlas Furniture, retiring in 1996.
She was a former member of the John W. Tiffany Post 53, Veterans of Foreign Wars
Auxiliary.
Surviving are a son, Benjie Campbell of Texas; a daughter, Jody Granger of South
Dayton; and two grandchildren: Lisa Botzenmayer of South Dayton, and Ben Campbell
of Texas.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Teresa Johnson; a
grandson, Joey Lee Johnson; and two brothers: Clifford and Cecil Harrington.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Widrig, James A. “Woody”
James A. Widrig, 65, of 4827 Mahanna Road, Bemus Point, died Wednesday (Dec. 14,
2011), in Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo.
He was born Aug. 28, 1946, in Jamestown, the son of Robert Widrig and Arlene Curtis.
Jim attended Southwestern schools, and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the
Vietnam War. He earned the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service
Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Prior to retiring in 2003, he had been a line supervisor with Niagara Mohawk
Power Corp., where he had been employed for 34 years.
He was a member of Bemus Point Post 557, Veterans of Foreign Wars, where
he had served as commander from 2000 to 2004. He was also a director and current
president of the Bemus Point Veterans Club.
Jim enjoyed his retirement years, which included hunting, golfing and spending
time at the Half Way Farm with his family, including his brothers-in-law: Randy
(Laura) Otander and Moe (Patsy) Otander.
He was a wonderful husband and father and was adored by his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Beth Otander Widrig, whom he married in 1976;
two daughters: Jamie D. (Kenneth) Glowacki of Summerville, S.C.. and Krystal
(Brandon) Waite of Bemus Point; two grand-children: Olivia Allison of Summerville,
S.C., and Colton Waite of Bemus Point; two brothers: Duane Widrig of Jacksonville,
Fla., and Robert Widrig of Sugar Grove, Pa.; and two sisters: Patricia Zimmer
of Jamestown, and Judy Marlett of Warren, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Kathleen
Bradley and JoAnne Hobart.

Wilcox, Rev. Dr. Paul S.
The Rev. Dr. Paul S. Wilcox, 63, of New Cumberland, Pa., passed away at home on
Wed., Nov. 9, 2011.
Paul was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on March 19, 1948, and grew up in Frewsburg,
N.Y., the son of the late R. Leslie Wilcox and Dorothy (Stanley) Wilcox.
He served as a United Methodist pastor since 1969.
In August 1969, Paul married Joy Walton Parmelee of Maple Shade, N.J. For the
past 42 years, they have served together in congregations and communities throughout
Central Pennsylvania and Alaska.
Paul loved being a pastor. His gift was leading people to see God in the everyday,
and encouraging people to minister beyond their community.
Paul enjoyed hiking (having hiked over 3,500 miles), fishing and bird-watching,
and led backpacking camps for youth and adults. He also loved Alaska, and directed
work teams of volunteers to build or renovate churches and homes in some of the
state's most remote villages. Paul also loved to read, and was known for working
through several books at the same time.
Paul treasured time with family. He is survived by his wife Joy; daughter Amy Perez
and husband, Juan of Philadelphia; son Daniel Wilcox and wife, Kris-Ann of Unalaska,
Alaska; daughter, Rebekah Wilcox and Walter Diehl of Harrisburg; and six grandchildren:
Juan, Elianna and Gabriella Perez and Esther, Jaden and Lydia Wilcox. He is also survived
by his mother, Dorothy Wilcox and sister, Linda Wilcox of Frewsburg, N.Y.; sister-in-law,
Patti and husband Charles (Chuck) Thompson and mother-in-law, Ella W. Parmelee of Maple
Shade, N.J. Also survived by nieces: Rebecca (Dave) Ostrega, and Cynthia (Chris) Grahl;
and nephews: Charles ''Chip'' and Stephen Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his father and his brother-in-law, Harold ''Tad'' Parmelee.
Paul's determined optimism and committed faith throughout a lengthy fight with
cancer were an inspiration to many. He lived victoriously.
A worship service celebrating Pastor Paul's life will be held on Saturday, Nov.
12, at 10:30 a.m. at Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church, Etters. Burial
will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday,
at the church.

Williams, Albert E.
Albert E. Williams, 91, of Kennedy passed away Saturday (Nov.12, 2011) in
Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center.
A lifelong area resident he was born Oct. 14, 1920 in Kennedy, the son of
the late Gerald and Florence Bloomer Williams.
In earlier years Albert had been employed by several dairy farms in the
area. Prior to retirement in 1978 he was employed by Mushroom Trucking
for 35 years .
Albert was a member of the Clarks Corners Community Church and had served as a
Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of the Flagler Beach Lions
Club in Florida. He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons and spending
winters in Florida.
Surviving are his wife Lois I. Penhollow Williams whom he married March 13,
1939 in Jamestown, a son Gerald "Gerry" Williams of Falconer, a daughter Donna
Williams of Kennedy, nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren, a brother Gordon Williams of Falconer and a sister
Madge Eldridge of Frewsburg.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson Jeffrey Williams
and a great grandson Robert Williams.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The
Rev. Gerald Haglund and the Rev. Walter Venman will officiate. Burial will
be in Myrtle Cemetery, Clarks Corners.

Williams, Dennis Seymour
Dennis Seymour Williams passed away Dec. 14, 2011, after a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 26, 1951, in Warren, to Morton and Arlene Williams of Sugar
Grove.
A graduate of Eisenhower High School in 1969, and a hero to his sons, he served
in the U.S. Army in Germany, Vietnam, and was an Airborne Ranger having done
the original parachute jump into Disney World in Florida. He was very proud
of serving his country.
Denny was employed as a carpenter and worked in construction most of his life,
and being generous to a fault, loved to help any-one fixing something or finishing
a project. He loved to build things with his hands.
In his devotion to his sons, he was known to many as a coach for wrestling and
little league, and enjoyed softball as a coach, player and later as a score keeper
and spectator. He was a devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Pirates and
Penn State Football.
Denny is survived by five sons: Dennis O. Williams of Warren, Lt. Jeremy M. Williams
of Fort Polk, La., Lt. Toby A. Williams (fiance Courtney Hordusky) of Erie,
Lt. Cody J Williams, Warren, and Steven Kibbey Warren; two granddaughters: Jordon
Williams and Taylor Williams, both of Warren; his companion, Jacque Shoup, Warren
and son, Kyle Shoup, Mountain Home, Idaho; daughters: Jamie Shoup, Lexington, Ky.,
and Jody Shoup, Lexington, Ky.; two brothers: Owen M. Williams (Julie) Warren, and
John E. Williams, Sugar Grove; and sister, Sue Johnson, Sugar Grove, who was by his
side for the last several months as his caregiver, transporting him weekly to Erie or
Pittsburgh. Her devotion to Denny was evident to everyone they encountered. He is also
survived by a sister-in-law, Annette Morrison Williams of Clymer; and several nieces
and nephews: Nicole Chapman (Ryan), Jennifer Entwisele (Brian), Renee Lang (Matt),
Sarah Drollinger (Alex), Brady Williams (Erin), Jesse Williams (Ann), Tyler Williams
(Kallie), Heather Williams (Tommy Raleigh), Megan Williams and Tara Williams; and five
great-nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his best friend, Rosco.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Andre L. Williams of Clymer; his maternal
grandparents Earl and Ethel York and his paternal Grandparents Horace and Clara Williams.

Williams, The Rev. Donald Eugene
The Rev. Donald Eugene Williams of Deltona, Fla. died Dec. 13, 2011, of cardiac
arrest at Fish Memorial Hospital in Orange City, Fla.
He was born Jan. 4, 1929, in DeLand, Fla.
His passing marks a life that came full circle.
Ordained in Christian ministry in 1962, the Rev. Williams had a lifetime of
service. He served in pastoral positions at churches in New York and Michigan,
before becoming an executive with the Church of God in Anderson, Ind., in 1976.
His long service with the Church of God included director of minority ministries
then associate secretary of the Missionary Board and World Service. His
responsibilities included directing programs that focused on diverse local
congregations and field administration for the English-speaking Caribbean-Atlantic
region.
Highlights of his life of service included a world tour with literacy pioneer
Frank Laubach in 1965 to 1966 and participation in the historic Civil Rights
march from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery in 1965 led by Martin Luther King Jr.
in the cause of voting rights for African-Americans.
The Rev. Williams was well known in the churches and organizations he served
as a warmhearted leader and gifted speaker. He served with several organizations,
including Rotary International and Girls and Boys Clubs. He was a life member
of the NAACP, and served on the board of trustees at Trinity Assembly of
God in Deltona.
The Rev. Williams had come back "home" to Central Florida several years ago. Even
in retirement, he continued a life of service by working as a volunteer chaplain
for the Volusia County Sheriff's Department and the Deltona Fire Department. He
had worked previously as chaplain with law enforcement in Detroit, Michigan
and in Indiana. In Volusia County, each morning officers would hear an
inspirational message from the Rev. Williams broadcast on their radios before
they set off on their rounds.
Throughout his life, his most cherished gift was the love of his family.
Survivors include his wife, Leah K. (Pollard) Williams; a son, Donald E. Williams
Jr.; two daughters, Celeste J. Williams (husband, John Fisher) and Michelle A.
Williams. A granddaughter, Cheyenne A. Williams and a grand-son, Michael Lawler
also survive. Other survivors include sisters: Gladys Williams and Dorothy
Williams, both of DeLand; and many extended family members, friends and colleagues.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at Trinity Assembly of
God, 875 Elkcam Bvld., Deltona, Fla.

Edna Mae Williams, 87, formerly of Cambridge Warren, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 19,
2012, at Warren Manor.
Mrs. Williams was born Jan. 3, 1925, in Dunkirk, N.Y., the daughter of the late
George and Hazel Brown Ernst.
Edna was a graduate of Little Valley High School, she then attended Jamestown
Business Institute. Edna was always taking a craft class, and her family often
received her crafts as gifts. She was a huge animal lover, and especially loved
when her son, James, would bring his dogs to visit.
She is survived by her son, James Hice and wife, Odette, Dunkirk, N.Y.; her
daughter, Karen Mazzu, and husband, Tom, Russell, Pa., and her son, Eugene Williams,
and wife, Amy, Olean, N.Y.; two grandchildren: Daniel Hice and Jennifer Knisley;
three great-grandchildren, Richard and Jacob Knisley and Whitney Hice; and several
nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ebenezer Williams,
whom she married Jan. 14, 1955, in Bradford, Pa.; and two brothers: Edwin and George Ernst.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E.,
Warren, on Thursday, Aug. 23, for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there
on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dave Heckman, pastor, Russell United
Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Little Valley Rural Cemetery.

Williams, Jacquelyn R. “Jackie”
A celebration of life service and luncheon for Jacquelyn R. "Jackie" Williams, 75,
of Jamestown, who died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, will be held from 2 to 7 p.m., July 7, at

Willis, Robert P. “Skip”
Robert P. "Skip" Willis, 95, of Randolph, passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2011,
at Absolut Care of Eden.
He was born Sept. 6, 1916, in Kennedy, N.Y., the son of the late Clarence
and Mabel (Miller) Willis.
He graduated from Falconer Central School, and was a veteran of World War II
serving in the 38th bombardier group of the U.S. Army Air Force in the South
Pacific from 1941 to 1945.
He owned Skip's Liquor Store and was a bartender for many years for the New
York Yankees spring training in Florida. He was a bus driver for Randolph
Central School and after retirement was a courier for CCB.
He was a member of Randolph American Legion Post 181 and Veterans of Foreign
War Post 6533 and a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Randolph.
Skip loved to play golf, play cards and was an avid baseball fan.
He is survived by two daughters: Bobbi (Craig) Constable and Pam (Wayne)
Arnold; four grandchildren: Allison Matson, Billie Ann Dunn, Sandy Mead and
Dr. David Arnold; two sisters: Mary Lou Jaquay and Dorothy Honey; six
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alicia Willis; and two brothers:
Howard and Alton.
Skip always had a kind word, a story to tell, and will be remembered as
a friend to all.
A private memorial service was held in Eden with inurnment at the
convenience of the family.

Wilson, Henry C. “Buddy”
GERRY - Henry C. "Buddy" Wilson, 68, of Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled
Nursing, formerly of Norby Road, Jamestown, died Sunday (Nov. 27, 2011), at
Heritage Village.
He was born July 31, 1943, in Whitesburg, Ky., the son of the Rev. Robert
and Lucy Absher Wilson.
He had been employed by Crescent Tool, and was a U.S. Army veteran serving
during the Vietnam conflict.
He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren, Buffalo Bills, camping, fishing
and many outdoor activities.
Henry is survived by his wife, Phyllis Brown Wilson, whom he married April
15, 1965 in Laurel, Md.; three children: Phillip (Lisa) Wilson, Connie
Renzi, and Jennifer (Dave) Schrader of Frewsburg; eight grandchildren:
Alishia Wilson, Khandi Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Benjamin, Billy, and Nicki
Renzi, Taylor and Zac Poncharik; a great-grandchild, Donovan Wilson; four
brothers: Dean (Joyce) Wil-son, Bill (Yvonne) Wilson, Paul ( Delores) Wilson,
and Randy (Gretta) Wilson; and seven sisters: Eula (Alvin) Trout, Denva Gay
(Ben) Simms, Deloris (Alan) Russell, Linda (Robert) Williams, Mable (Buddy)
Young, Joyce (Ellis) Rowe and Donna (Alan) Ross.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: Woodrow (Bob)
and Chester Wilson.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff for the loving
care provided to Buddy during his stay at Heritage Village.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, in the Peterson Funeral Home,
Frewsburg. The Rev. Mel McGinnis, pastor of the Kiantone Congregational Church,
will officiate. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Windoft, Byron Lee “Bud”
Byron Lee "Bud" Windoft, 84, formerly of 40 Vista Way, Lakewood, died Thursday,
Dec. 15, 2011, at the Lutheran Home & Rehabilitation Center, following a long
battle with Parkinson's disease.
He was born Jan. 31, 1927, in Titusville, Pa., the son of the late Clarence and
Lillian Penglase Windoft.
After serving in the U.S. Army, Bud graduated from Edinboro University and later
received his master's degree from St. Bonaventure University.
He began his career as a history teacher at Southwestern Central School, moving
on to administration and retiring as principal of the middle school. Following
retirement, Bud enjoyed his second career as a licensed real estate broker with
Winturn Realty.
He was a member of the Lakewood Memorial Post American Legion and the Lakewood
Rod & Gun Club.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Ellen Warner Windoft, whom he married in 1976;
seven children: Celeste (Dana) Bolles of Erie, Pa, Betsy (Don) Johnson of
Lakewood, N.Y., Kellie (David) Bargar of Lakewood, Maryann (Robert) Whitney of
Jamestown, Thomas (Andrea) Windoft of Lakewood, Michael (Melissa) Windoft of
Erie, and Casey (Amy) Windoft of Lakewood; 14 grandchildren: Whitney and Jeffrey
Bolles, Apryl Jackson Troutman, Gregory Jackson, Nathaniel, Kristen and William
Bargar, Todd Whitney, Benjamin and Brock Windoft, Sara and Cristofer Windoft,
Emily and Carter Windoft; two great-grandchildren: Quentin and Abigail Bolles;
three stepsons: Dr. James (Valerie), David and Thomas Scarpino; six step grandchildren:
Lisa, Julie and Laurie Scarpino, Madison Borst and Holly and Morgan Scarpino; and
his mother-in-law, Emily Warner of Lakewood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lola Windoft
Jennings; and his step-mother, Eliza Windoft.
The funeral will be held at noon Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel
S. Rumfelt will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, and for one hour prior to the
service in the funeral home Saturday.

A celebration of the life of Jon Wissman, 73, who died Sept. 20, 2011, will be
held at 11 a.m. on June 2, 2012, at a graveside service in the Gerry Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Gerry Free Methodist Church fellowship hall
following the luncheon. A luncheon will be served.
Jon was a former resident of Gerry and Jamestown.

Wolff, Robert L.
Robert L. Wolff, 69, of 33 Linden Ave., died Thursday, August 23, 2012, in his home.
He was born June 20, 1943, in Tidal, Pa., the son of the late Chester and Helen Benn
Wolff.
Robert was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War.
He had been employed as a construction worker, limousine driver and a taxi driver, most
recently for Golden Taxi.
Surviving are seven children: Dawn Akshmit, Carla Honea, Kara Cushman, Rodney J.
Wolff, Tiara L. Skelly, Jeffrey L. Wolff and Chester L. Wolff II; 28 grandchildren and
four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Daniels Wolff, whom he married August 7,
1982, and who died April 6, 2012; a son, Robert Wolff II; and a granddaughter, Daysha
Akshmit.
A private family memorial service will be held. Visitation will not be observed.

James A. Wood, 77, of Williamsville and Steamburg, N.Y., Saturday Dec. 17, 2011,
in Steamburg surrounded by his loving family.
Loving husband for 57 years of Dorothy M. Wood (nee Attea). Father of James Jr.,
Deborah (Bernard) Cragg, Beverly Schultz, Laurie (Donald) Yavicoli, Mike,
Sharon (Thomas) Lamb, Harold (Lorrie), Raymond (Diana), John (Deborah),
Steven (Karen) Wood. Brother of Jeanette Mahoney and Edward J. Wood. Son of
the late Harold and Estella Wood and brother of the late Donald, Audrey Daniels,
Barbara Morrissey and Karen Wood. Surviving are 34 grandchildren, seven
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
James was a Korean-era U.S. Navy veteran. He worked as a salesman for M. Attea
and Brothers for over 40 years. He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman.

Wright, Ann L.
Ann L. Wright, 63, formerly of 26 Sampson St., and Tanglewood Manor died
at 6:40 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 27, 2011), in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled
Nursing Facility.
A lifelong area resident, she was born March 3, 1948, in Jamestown, N.Y.,
a daughter of the late Frank R. and D. Louise Matoon Wright Sr.
Surviving are two daughters: Tammy Johnson of Jamestown, N.Y., and
Virginia Griffith of Ellington, N.Y.; a son, Raymond Johnson Jr. of Jamestown;
eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Larrie and
Willis Wright, both of Jamestown, N.Y.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank R. Wright Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral

Wright, Fred D. Jr.
Fred D. Wright Jr., 58, of Spring Creek, Pa., died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at his
daughter's home in Corry, Pa.
He was born Jan. 11, 1953, in Corry, a son of the late Fred D. and Elizabeth M.
Peters Wright Sr.
Fred was raised and attended schools in Corry, Clymer, Spartansburg and Bear Lake. He
graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1971. Fred worked for Thompson Maple Products
for the last 38 years and retired in August of 2011 due to his health.
For 15 years, he was a firefighter and EMT for the Wrightsville Volunteer Fire Department.
He also enjoyed raising horses, gardening and motorcycles. Fred was a loving and caring
person, who enjoyed helping and giving to others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Querreveld
and Sharon Teed; by one brother John Wright.
He is survived by a daughter, Mellissa Mather and her husband, Tim, of Corry, Pa.; a
son Melvin Wright of Cherry Point, N.C.; four sisters: Connie Clark and her husband,
Jim, of North Carolina, Kathleen Keyes of Bradford, Pa., Melody Rulander and her
husband, Jeffrey, of Scandia, Pa., and Christine Hackley of North Carolina; three
brothers: Jack Snyder and his wife, Sue, of Waterford, Pa., Eugene "Skeeter" Wright
of North Carolina and Dennis Wright of Bear Lake, Pa.; by two grandchildren, Isabella
Wright and Lucas Mather; and by many nieces and nephews.

Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held there on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Workman, Candice A.
FALCONER - Candice A. Workman, 36, of 113 E. James St. Falconer, died Tuesday
(Dec. 6, 2011) from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born Oct. 2, 1975 in St. Petersburg, Fla., the daughter of David
and Cheryl Peterson Workman.
She loved spending time with her son and enjoyed shopping.
Besides her parents, Candice was survived by her son, Vincent Yarngnork,
and a sister, Shana Workman of Kennedy.
She was predeceased by her grandparents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. No visitation will
be observed.

Wright, Jane Elizabeth Mawhir
Jane Elizabeth Mawhir Wright went home to her Lord and Savior Tuesday,
Nov. 8, 2011, after a courageous and graceful battle with cancer. She was
surrounded by her loving family in her home in Pomfret.
She was born Sept. 6, 1958, in Dunkirk, N.Y., to Rod and Judy Mawhir,
and married Sept. 16, 1976, to Phil Wright in Brocton, N.Y.
She will be forever remembered by her devoted husband, Phil Wright;
children: Erica (Mike) Sioda, Amy (Joe) Artl and Kyle Wright; grandchildren:
Thomas, Amber and Leah Sioda; parents: Rod and Judy Mawhir; siblings: Steve
(Sylvia) Mawhir, Stan (Linda) Mawhir, Peggy (Chuck) Mangus and Patty (Todd)
Matteson; father-in-law, Denny Wright; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and
dear friends.
Jane touched the lives of many people with her kind heart, generous spirit
and warm smile. She loved being a wife, mother and Nana. Her spirit lives on
in everyone whose life she touched.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at noon from the
Brocton Baptist Church. The Rev. Larry Morrison, will officiate. Interment

Wong, Gerald D.
Gerald D. Wong, 71, of 15 E. Third St., Lakewood, died unexpectedly Monday,
Oct. 31, 2011, in Pittsfield, Pa.
He was born June 20, 1940, in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii, a son of the late Ah Tim
Floyd Wong and Emily Torres Wong, and graduated from McKinley High School and
Honolulu Community College.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1962 as a jet mechanic in Tripoli, Libya.
For 25 years, Gerry was employed by the Honolulu Fire Department, and retired as
captain of Rescue One in 1989. After then moving to the Jamestown area, he coached
girls' volleyball at Eisenhower High School and later boys' volleyball at Frewsburg
Central School. More recently, Gerry had worked as a teacher's assistant at the
BOCES Hewes Educational Center in Ashville. Ever committed to his students, he
made countless meaningful relationships as friend and mentor.
A member of the American Legion nationally, he also belonged to the Jamestown Moose.
He loved the sport of volleyball and participated in the World Police and Fire
Games in San Diego and again in 1989 in Vancouver, Canada, bringing home two
silver medals.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, diving and golfing. His passion for
hunting was well known. A true gambling man, he enjoyed his many trips to Las
Vegas, and online poker games. Perhaps most notably, Gerry was a people person,
always willing to lend a hand to neighbors and friends.
Gerry is survived by his wife, Patty Wong, with whom he recently celebrated 35
years together; five children: Daven Wong of Redmond, Wash, Darren Wong of Kailua,
Hawaii, Stephanie Wong of Hilo, Hawaii, Erin Mai-Lee Lindberg-Wong of Brooklyn,
N.Y., and Nicole Lindberg-Wong of James-town; four grandchildren: David Wong
of Hilo, Hawaii and Darren Wong, Jr., Ittai Wong and Sarah Nalani Wong, all
of Kailua, Hawaii. Also surviving are two sisters: Judy Wong of Kaneohe, Hawaii
and Beverly Engcabo of Kapolei, Hawaii; and a brother, Lorrin (Suzie) Wong of
Honolulu, Hawaii.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Lawrence and
Ronald Wong.
The funeral will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev.
Rick LaDue will officiate.
Friends will be received Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again, prior to
the service from 4 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
