Quick, Lois Lofgren 1925 to 2011
  The world will be a bit less brighter for the friends 
and family of Lois Quick. She passed from the hands of 
those that loved and cared for her to the hands of God 
in the early morning hours on Nov. 5, 2011, with her son 
Don at her side.
  Though she battled through many obstacles and losses, she 
engaged everyday with the joy of living.
Lois was born in Jamestown. N.Y., on April 3, 1925.
S  She was a graduate of Jamestown High School (1943) and a graduate of Hobart 
& William Smith Colleges (1947), where she was the correspondent for 
"the Survey" in later years.
  Lois married Robert Quick in 1946. they moved from New York, with two small 
sons to Opalocka in 1951, and was a teacher at Scott Lake Elementary, Miami (1960 
to 1987), and lived there until retiring to Ft. Pierce in 1997.
  Lois was a member of many organizations, The Pilot Club (Miami & Ft. Pierce) 
and was on their board of directors, she was a Silver Sister of the Alpha Delta 
Kappa Teacher Honor Society, UTD, FEA, NEA, DCREA, American Legion Auxiliary, 
Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Moose Lodge to name but a few. She belonged 
to St. Cecelia Guild & Lawnwood Volunteers, both through St. Andrews. Lois was 
also co-founder of St. Kevin's Episcopal Church in Opalocka, Fla., 1954.
  Surviving are: two sons: Robert (Tina) Quick, and Don (Jamie) Quick, both of 
Ft. Pierce; one granddaughter, Tracy Quick of Ft. Pierce; two great-grandchildren: 
Taylor and Shane Black, both of Ft. Pierce; and many nieces and nephews. She also 
leaves behind a group of longtime loving friends.
  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert I. 
Quick Sr.; a granddaughter, Robin Black; and a great-granddaughter: Mackenzie 
Black.
  Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to either Treasure Coast Hospice 
1201 SE Indian St., Stuart, Fl. 34997; or to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
  Service time will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at St. Andrew's Episcopal 
Church, 210 South Indian River Drive, Ft. Pierce, FL, 34950-4337. The Rev. 
John S. Liebler. will officiate and the Rev. David Francoeur (Hospice), 
will also be in attendance.
  Her ashes will be placed along side her loving husband in the Memorial 
Garden at St. Andrews, and a reception will follow at the Parish Hall.
  Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral Home.
